— FIGHT OR FLIGHT
Rinyoung wandered aimlessly around the crowded streets of Seoul. The sun had finally set and life had only began for most.
The girl walked past groups of friends. Her eyes would always linger a second longer, as she longed for that type of connection.
No one really tried to befriend the girl with genuine reasons. It was always for the money or fame. She simply was a pawn to them. Just a person they used to get what they want. It hurt even more when she had built a bond with them, just to find out it was all white lies and false hope. She had no other choice than to stop being friendly.
Rinyoung built walls, and buried her feelings deep in her heart, creating a callous and cold mask. It was only to protect her fragile heart. She didn't know how much more it could take.
Reeling her back to her senses, a searing pain appeared on her side abdomen.
Stopping in the middle of the street, many cursed at her for disrupting the night flow as others were genuinely concerned from the pained expression she wore. Her hands rubbed at the area, desperately trying to ease the pain, yet it didn't disappear, but worsen.
She quickly stumbled to a near alley, aware of all the glares and scoffs she received.
"What the heck." She muttered through clenched teeth, leaning her body against a wall. Her fingers gripped her side, in attempts to rid the sensation.
A few cans in front of her clattered onto the pavement, causing Rinyoung to look up. Although her gaze was hazy, she could make out two battling figures. She squinted her eyes, clearing her blurry vision. As it cleared, she instantly recognized the fluffy brown hair and facial features.
She pushed herself off the grimy building, trailing forward towards the two men.
Grunts and groans infiltrated her ears, causing Rinyoung to become hyperactive of her surroundings and situation. Donghyuck punched the man roughly, as his gun was discarded from being kicked out of his grasp.
The other party tackled the young boy, straddling him with his legs as he pummeled his fists roughly into Donghyuck's face. Rinyoung could feel the strength he had, burning sensations appearing on her eyes and cheeks.
The mysterious man held down Donghyuck, as his other hand pulled out something from his pocket. It glimmered in the dim lighting. Realization washed over the girl as she figured he was gonna stab her soulmate.
Quick on her feet, she ran to the gun that lid on the pavement. She cocked it back, how she had seen in movies, and aimed it at the man. Her hands shook at the unfamiliarity of the glock, fear and nerves eating at her as she counted down in her head.
He raised his hand, the blade shining above Donghyuck's chest but before he could pierce his skin, Rinyoung pulled the trigger.
Her eyes screwed shut, hearing the body fall onto the ground, dead. Her eyelids hid her brown orbs, fearing the sight in front of her. She just killed a man. Rinyoung's body vibrated, terrified of the reality that laid in front of her. Her arms were held out, outstretched, frozen from the previous events. She didn't have it in her to lower her hands, she didn't dare move in that moment.
Hot tears streamed down her cheeks. Liquid grief and terror spilled from her eyes at a fast pace. Her bottom lip quivered as guilt consumed her thoughts.
He probably had a family, a life, kids, friends, loved ones who cherished his presence.
But she took the most precious thing away from him, leaving him breathless.
Rinyoung jolted in shock as a pair of hands wrapped around her wrists, lowering her arms, disarming her. Her legs gave out, her body collapsing into his arms. Donghyuck held her up securely, pulling her close. Despite wanting to bury his feelings deep in him, the soulmate bond was stronger.
He felt his heart swell, knowing she was having an internal conflict.
He pitied her, personally knowing how it felt like to be in her shoes.
Four years ago, he shot his first gun. His innocence vanished as the sterling bullet pierced the chest of the invading man. A shiver ran down his spine, reminiscing the memory of killing his first person.
"You shouldn't have done that."
