The red vehicle slowed to a stop, awakening Rinyoung from her daze.

"Where are we?" She perked up when noticing that they weren't anywhere near their home. The raven haired girl squinted her eyes whilst looking out. Her chocolate orbs shifted around her surroundings— first spotting a familiar railing, greenery and the stars. "Don't tell me, we're back at the same—"

"The same place." Donghyuck responded indifferently, quickly glancing at her before returning his eyes to the steering wheel.

"Just so you know," Rin cleared her throat, swallowing the awkward tension she felt. "W-We're not fucking."

"You're boring," He deadpanned, side-eyeing her. "— whatever, you're covered in beer anyway. I wouldn't want sticky car sex tonight."

Rinyoung scoffed as she crossed her arms in defense. "Rude." She tsked.

Though the conversation ended shortly after her one word response, both of them had a lot to talk about. A comfortable silence enveloped the pair, capturing the serene atmosphere they were in.

Donghyuck nibbled on his lower lip. He was wrapped up in a flurry of thoughts, from tonight to earlier at university, and to a few days before. Should he have helped her with Hyejin this morning? But he made it up to her with helping with the whole party scene, right?

On the other side of the car, Rinyoung shifted in her leather seat. She gathered a bundle of her shirt fabric in her hand with her fist clenched painfully. The girl still hung onto the earlier soulmate moment.

She craned her neck to him— him doing the same— and she couldn't help but let the large grin stay plastered on her face.

Her eyes twinkled through the dark and her smile reached her eyes, the first time in a long time.

And then . . .

She felt it.

His heart clenched in his chest.

Why would his heart react that way? Why now of all times.

The fact that she forgot that the soulmate bond existed between them for merely a day gave her hope, that maybe she wouldn't get hurt by all of this.

She can't get heartbroken, if she can't feel it right?

But tonight had changed everything. And she didn't know if it was for the better.

Rinyoung was one word, confused. She didn't know how to feel. Excited? Was it like an epiphany in him? Or anger? Sadness? Disgust? She didn't know anything.

She wanted to know, but what if he gives an answer she doesn't like?

Maybe it was nothing. Has to be, right? He clearly stated that he didn't need or want her, nor a soulmate in general.
