— RUNAWAY PRINCESS
Her ankles ached tremendously as well as her cheeks, from all the smiling she had done, except they weren't genuine. Nothing had been genuine that night. She barely knew anyone at the party.
They were all just business partners and colleagues to her parents, who blindly greeted her a happy birthday before quickly rushing off to network themselves off to others.
Glancing down, she quietly gazed at her dress. It was a soft gray color and it complimented her complexion well. The ball gown reached the floor, in an elegant manner. The top was slightly see through, as ruffles circled her shoulders. Her carved collarbones were on perfect display. She felt like a princess, but at the same time not.
A small sigh left her lips as she dropped her shoulders in defeat, catching the attention of her elder brother, who stood next to her.
"Stop sighing. People will think you're not enjoying your own party." He scolded his younger sister, his deep voice laced with venom. Rinyoung rolled her eyes at him. Turning her head, she stared at him in a bored manner.
"It doesn't even feel like my birthday." She grumbled before walking away, harshly hitting her brother's shoulder in the process.
"Rinyoung, get back here." He called out to her sternly, but she brushed him off and continued walking.
"I'm gonna use the bathroom." Walking out of the ballroom, she trailed down the large hallway, to the foyer. Glancing around, she checked to make sure no one was watching her. And as silently as she could, she pushed the grand doors open, escaping into the night.
She felt suffocated in her home.
She quickly ran past the various cars parked in front of her house, and ran towards the city. Seeing a young girl run in an elegant ball gown made everyone watch and stare. Her figure was blurred, as she sprinted past the civilians, maneuvering her body skillfully to avoid bumping into anyone. It truly looked like a scene from a movie, how her hair flowed in the night wind, her hands gripping at the fabric of her dress, holding it up to prevent herself from falling. The princess was running away from her castle.
Her feet ached more as she ran in her heels.
Gasping for air, she quickly ducked into a dark alley. She firmly pressed herself against the building's side, gulping down oxygen.
The group of men were startled. They stared intently at her side profile, her soft features were illuminated by the various city lights, her eyes gleaming. Donghyuck's eyes trailed over her face. Her flushed state and parted lips, awakened something within. He found her stunning. Especially in this light.
Peeling her eyes away from the night life of seoul, she turned her head to the side, her eyes meeting his.
Her breath was caught in her throat. Something washed over her as an unfamiliar feeling tugged at her heartstrings. She looked like a deer caught in headlights from the way her eyes widened.
Rinyoung's inner voice spoke at the back of her mind, knowingly.
He's my soulmate.
