"You're dating... Amy? Amy Foster?" I asked.
"Well, to me her name is Aubrey, but to you her name is Amy Foster. She told me all about you guys. I think you're either Keefe or Fitz, and I'm leaning towards Keefe. Fitz sounds... nevermind." Violet quipped. "And I think we need to go see her." I honestly can't wrap my head around this. Amy told someone about elves, and they have all the evidence they need to wipe her mind. No one would think twice, because Amy broke her promise.
"Wait- don't tell me you're a homophobe." Violet gasped, fear creeping into her eyes.
"Me? No of course not. I was just thinking they have everything they need to wipe Amy's mind if they ever find out she told you. This has to stay a secret. Okay?"
"Yeah that's for reminding me. I was just about to tell the news." Violet smirked. "Also we need to get out of here. Now. I might have called the police as soon as I saw you."
"Vie, you did what?" Her father gaped. I had completely forgot he was here.
"Dad I'm really sorry, but I need to go to Aubrey's. We have a lot to talk about. You can make it home, right?"
"Yes, but-"
"Okay great. I love you!"
"Vie, don't yo-" Before he could finish his sentence, a large gust of wind pushed Violet and I away, and into the deranged streets of Boston. Thanks to the wind and pure adrenaline, Violet dragged me to Amy's house in under thirty minutes.
"Keefe, before we go in, you need to know Aubrey isn't out yet. So to her parents, I'm her 'bff'. I hate it, but she isn't ready yet." Violet sighed as she knocked on the big wooden door. The house was stone, and was very big. I wonder how much elves think is enough money for one human family.
"Good to know. Hey, how did you know I was Keefe?"
"Easy. Aubrey said Fitz was in love with the idea of Sophie, and Keefe was in love with Sophie."
I felt my mouth open, but before I could respond a girl with big brown eyes and bushy hair poked her head through the door.
"Violet!" She exclaimed, and as her head turned to me, her face fell. "Keefe. You should probably come in." She opened the door, and I trailed after Violet as we walked through the mansion. I mean, I've seen human houses and this looks more like the Shores of Solace. There was a glass ceiling, chandeliers, and a very huge wooden table. Everything in this house seemed to be wood, stone or glass. As I entered the backyard, there were holes dug everywhere, a dog house, and lots of bones and chew toys. I could tell Amy got the dog she had wanted. Amy turned around, worry was painted on her face.
"Keefe, why aren't you with Sophie?" Amy asked, as she reached for Violet's hand.
"It's a long story." I whispered. Amy looked like she was ready to throw up.
"Is Sophie..." Amy whimpered, and held onto Violet's hand like it was a liferaft in a stormy sea.
"Sophie? Oh god no she's completely fine. I'm so sorry that was super misleading. Yes, Sophie is healthy and safe." Both girls exhaled together, before Amy punched him in the arm.
"Well you could have just said that!" Amy laughed, red in the cheeks. Violet and Amy sat down at their marbe picnic table because the council miscalculated what "comfortable" ment in the money when it came to humans.
"But I probably should tell you what happened." I said, shame filling my body. And I told her everything. From my mother giving me my new ability, to the touching the triplets, to hurting Sophie. I could barely choke out what I did to Sophie. Upon hearing this, Amy told me what an idiot I was for blaming myself. Violet had wholeheartedly agreed.
"And that's pretty much it. I would really appreciate it if you knew somewhere I could hide." I said, feeling a thousand times better having gotten it off my chest.
"No way" Amy said, at the same time Violet said
"Hell no!" I shivered, as a cool breeze rippled through the yard.
"I think I speak for Aubrey and I here when I say, that's a terrible plan Keefe. Hiding doesn't accomplish anything, because Aubrey and I aren't therapists and don't have the funds to hide you." Violet said, throwing her hands up in the air. Amy piled on to tell me how stupid my plan was.
"ALSO, the more you stay here the more humans you hurt! I know you think elfs are more important or whatever" Amy ranted
"I never sai-" I began, but Amy cut me off.
"...but humans can get hurt and die too! Finally, the biggest flaw in your 'plan' is that you are just giving your mom time to find you. This is exactly what she'd want you to do." Amy finished, looking triumphant. Just as I was about to respond, a huge light shone up from some bushes.
"My imparter!" Amy cried. The three of us rushed forward, tearing through the bushes to find it. Finally, I grabbed it and answered the imparter. I didn't expect Sophie's face to be shining through the thin metal square.
"Keefe?" Sophie shrieked, her eyes lighting up in joy.
"Foster?" I blurted out, before smacking my mouth with my hand to stop any more words from coming out. Sophie had started tucking her hair behind her eyes, madly blushing.
"Keefe, what are you doing with Am- I mean, Aubrey? Is she alright? Is Violet or Randy there? Is Amy okay?" Sophie demanded. Not knowing what else to do, I tossed the imparter to Violet hoping she could explain better than I could.
"Hi Soph! Don't worry, Aubrey is safe, and Randy is with his grandparents in Kentucky, remember?" Violet said. I have no idea who Randy and kinda wanted to ask, but now was not the time for that.
"I met Keefe when he accidentally knocked my dad and I threatened to call the police. Then I actually called the police so we had to get out of there." As Sophie opened her mouth, Violet added, "Everyone is safe, and Keefe helped my dad wake up again."
"Good. Keefe, can I talk to you privately? It's about your journal."
