(a/n hi guys! I have a couple of things I want to mention before I start writing, but it should be quick. I have started writing a new fanfic, so if there are any Grey's Anatomy fans that are dealing with the loss of their favorite character (which is like EVERY season finale) you should check it out! Besides this shameless promo, this chapter takes place a little before Biana and Violet started to fight. Enjoy! ALTHO THE ENDING IS PRETTY DARK NO REGRETS MWHAHAAHAH)

Linh and Dex had just gone to their post, and Sophie and I were about to leave as well. I was dragging my feet, because neither of us really knew how this battle is going to play out. We were finally at the point where we would part ways, and neither of us could leave.

"So... I guess I should go."  I hesitated, and in that moment, Sophie grabbed my face and kissed me. Alarmed, I almost pulled away, but then I cupped her face with my hand, and kissed her back. She tasted sweet, like freshly picked strawberries. I didn't let go until I was running out of air, and we pulled away, gasping. With a grin on her face, she ran down the hall. Just as I was wondering if she was going to look back, she turned her head and let me see her flushed cheeks. I was paralyzed to the spot, wondering what had happened, and why I was so glad that it did.

"Hey!" An angry voice snapped me back to reality, where I saw a boy with alarmingly teal eyes glaring at me. "Let's go." He stalked off, which left me running after him. Maybe this was Fitz... he sure was mad, which according to Sophie, happened a lot.

"You're Fitz, right?" I asked, finally catching up to him. He stopped suddenly, and whirled around to face me. He looked broken, and his blazing blue eyes seemed faded, a little sadder.

"Yeah. I'm Fitz. And you were my best friend." He said. Were. I don't know if that was because he considered me a new person, or if it was because of what had gone down regarding Sophie. I only knew her side of the story, so maybe his side was different? But then his face shut down again, and he looked angry. So I assume that Sophie was mostly telling the truth.
"Let's go. We've got some people to fight."

We finally made it to the front of the house, where I realized how cold it was. I tried not to show it, but when I shivered Fitz rolled his eyes. My jacket was full of weapons, and I was caring a dagger in each hand. I couldn't shake the feeling that if I fell in the wrong place, I would accidentally stab myself. Fitz paced around on the grass, and his ever present scowl deepened when we saw people arriving in the distance. Fitz drew his sword out of his belt, and started to walk faster. There were close enough that I could see their faces, where I saw a woman in charge. She had ice blue eyes, just like mine. Her dirty blonde hair was pulled into tight french braids, and her lips were painted blood red. When her gaze fell on me, her eyes widened in shock, and a little bit of love might have been leaked in as well. But the moment ended, and a cool indifference overcame her face.

"Hello Fitzory. Keefe." She said, drawing my name out.

"Um... hi." I stuttered, and her mouth curled into a disapproving frown.  I never realized how much Fitz had mirrored her frowns.

"I'm surprised you didn't treat me like the black plague, considering our past encounters." She said, her frown gone replaced by a familiar snark. Her followers covered their mouths with their hands to stop themselves from laughing. They all looked identical, in this matching cloaks. They really had gone all out for this event.

"Well, I don't really remember our past. So... clean slate? Maybe stop trying to kill my friends?" Instead of the horror I thought would be on her face, she grinned.

"Keefe, your friends have been lying to you. You finally figured out what Fitzory has been hiding, and he knocked you out. Didn't he?" She said, turning her focus to a beet red Fitz.

"You're lying! You're a liar!" Fitz responded. He looked at me frantically, as if he was trying to prove he was telling the truth.

"What proof do you have Keefe? Besides what Sophie told you? And I'm sure that she wouldn't cover for her ex, who she's still clearly in love with." She said, sarcasm dripping in her tone.

"Sophie... she wouldn't lie." I said, trying to convince myself. "And besides, what's this big secret Fitz was keeping anyway? Would he really almost kill his best friend for it."

"Keefe, my poor boy. There's that flaw again. How did you think I know that Violet was here? I'm planning on letting her think she's winning, and then shoot her to death with guns from her country. Just like what happened to her mother. And Amy hiding in the house, playing with bombs? She won't be as safe as Sophie thinks when a sniper finds her. Who do you think told me all of this?" She said. Every single thing she was saying was terrible. Horrible. Completely plausible.

"How did you get all of that firepower? AND we knew that Forkle told you everything when you tortured him." I said, hoping to find a hole in her plan.

"Oh, we didn't need any information out of him. He wasn't tortured at all. " Fitz's face flooded with relief.  "His death was painless." Fitz took a step back, stubborn tears falling from his face.

"But Violet and Amy don't need to die. If you come with me, I'll make sure that they leave safe." Fitz's jaw dropped. Leave? I couldn't just leave... but she was my mother, and aren't I supposed to love my mom? Violet and Amy shouldn't die today. They were both so young, and I knew that they were going to end up together.

"You can't seriously be considering this." Fitz yelled at me, snapping me out of my trance.

"I haven't even gotten to the best part yet." Lady Gisela said with a smile that showed her perfect white teeth. "Fitzory has shown his loyalty to the Black Swan time and time again, so we can't trust him. Unfortunately, he must be disposed. And since you want to show your loyalty, I think we have the perfect person to terminate Fitzory." Now she had made it a choice. There was Violet and Amy, two young girls who loved each other. I'd seen them sneaking around kissing before we had left, and the looks that they gave each other weren't the looks friends gave each other. Then there was the boy who was my best friend, who was my girlfriends ex, and my best friend. According to him, he was my best friend, but wasn't anymore. Was it even a choice? I slowly reached into my jacket and pulled out the sharpest knife I had. Every single reason told me that I should kill Fitz, but the look of terror in his eyes startled me.

"Keefe..." He whispered, more tears rolling down his cheeks.

"Do it." Lady Gisela said sharply. Maybe there was another option. No one would kill their own mother, unless they were psychotic... or unless they had no other choice. I steadied my shaking hand, and prepared to throw it. Just as Fitz closed his eyes and my mother smiled, I changed my direction. I felt water spring from my eyes, as I threw it at my mothers throat. Her smile was gone, blood gushing from her wound. Her eyes fluttered and she grabbed the knife in an attempt to dislodge it, and finally yanked it out. The blood doubled, soaking her clothing. As she feel to the ground, I could only see fear in her eyes. For a moment, there was silence.

"Fire!" Someone shrieked, and I heard a round of gunshots echo from around the house.

"No!" I cried out, spinning around to see if Violet and Amy were okay. I saw a slumped figure with a pool of blood forming, becoming larger from the window. They weren't moving.

"Keefe-" Fitz cried out, and I saw the sword coming out from my belly before the pain hit. The blade glistened with my own blood, and the surrounding Neverseen started to attack. They ignored me, assuming I would be dead in minutes, and instead focused on Fitz. The pain finally began, and it was unimaginable. My body hit the dirt, splayed next to my mother. I never knew how much blood could come from an elf. Or maybe it was the fact that it was mine and my mothers. The dirty ground was uncomfortable, a terrible place to die. But I bet that wasn't what was going through my mothers head when she had closed her eyes for the last time. She had seen her son betraying her. The last thing I saw was Fitz fighting, and a corpse in the window. All I wanted was to spend more time with Sophie. That was all I had wanted... And now I never would.
