It had been 3 days since my dad went missing. 29 days since Sophie went missing. 34 days since Keefe went missing. And the countdown is t-minus 2 days until I leave, because no one will pick up their goddamn imparter. I was pacing around my room, and I decided to try calling Jensi. It's also been 3 days since he went missing with my dad, Marella, and Dex. The only person who hasn't gone missing since the fire Sophie set was Tam. Even Linh was notorious for leaving without telling anyone, and whenever she would go, Wylie would mysteriously leave as well. At least Wylie would try to come up with an excuse, no matter how bad it was (my personal favorite was 'I'm off to go find some bananas for Mr.Forkles half-birthday party. He even tried to follow through with it, and it turns out Mr.Forkles birthday was in a month. I've never seen anyone's cheeks turned that red).
"Biana? You okay?" I turned around to see an impish boy, with a concerned look on his face. It was probably because I haven't been spending all that much time on my appearance. Currently, I was wearing a brown tunic, with my greasy hair falling around my neck in dreadlocks. I really needed to take a shower.
"Me? Oh yeah, totally. I was just about to try to get Jensi to pick up his imparter." I said, smiling my fakest smile.
"Really?"
"No of course I'm not okay. Are you okay?" I accused.
"Nope." laughed Tam, and sat down on my bed next to me.
"Well, at least we can be not okay together." I said, reaching for Tam's hand. He happily obliged, and we both sat on my bed.
"So, is Linh around?" I said, wondering if she had disappeared again.
"Nope, she left this morning." Tam said, his emotions unreadable.
"What was Wylies excuse this time?" I eagerly asked, a smile on my face. Tam and I agreed we would try to find joy in the little things, and that included Wylie making a fool of himself. We loved it.
"Oh, it was actually really funny. He said he was going to the Council, and when I asked why, he said 'to go to the lost cities to research movies.' It was so random! Although, most things that come out of his mouth is." Tam laughed. I watched his silver bangs shake as he laughed, and his eyes sparkle that silvery blue I loved so much. Joy in the little things.
"Well, at least we know that Wylie won't ever be able to lie to us when something important happens." I smiled. I felt a piece of my hair fall in front of my face, and I saw Tams mouth change into a small o. He then slowly moved his hand to put it back in its place, and our faces grew closer together. Without saying a word, Tam put his hand on my cheek, and we both leaned in-
"Ew! Get a room. Seriously. That's disgusting." Fitz's voice groused. Tam and I pulled away faster then Sophie transported.
"We are in a room. Mine. So get out right now." I snarled. When Tam and I sprung away from each other, I ended up right next to my window, and Tam was awkwardly standing near the door, and also near Fitz.
"Fine. I guess I just won't tell you that our dad, Marella, Jensi, Dex came back. And that they brought back Keefe and Sophie." Fitz bragged, but I could see the fear and embarrassment in his eyes. I didn't know what went down with Sophie, but I do know it ended with Fitz breaking up with her, and then she went missing. Everyone told him not to feel guilty, because they didn't want his mind to break. Personally, I think Fitz wasn't telling us the full story, but I didn't push him.
"WHAT! WHERE ARE THEY?" I exclaimed, so shocked that I momentarily turned invisible.
"They're at Foxfi-" Fitz began, but before he finished I had grabbed Tam by the hand and was pulling him out the door. Fitz followed behind us, but not fast enough. I had already transported away, feeling so glad I didn't need my nexus. As soon as I had left my home, I was in the entrance of Foxfire. I frantically looked around, searching for a sign of my dad, Marella, or Sophie. And I would never admit it to Tam, but I was also looking for Dex. Finding no sign of them outside, I ran into the building, pushing the big double doors open. I ran through the halls, and I went straight to Mr.Forkles office. To my relief, I could see everyone gathered together, but the reunion was not happy. I had expected Mr.Forkle to be angry, but I had never been so wrong. He looked like a sheep cornered by wolves. I quickly vanished myself, so they wouldn't stop talking. I tiptoed closer to the door, and pressed my ear against the wood.
"How could you not tell us? And to just leave Violet like that?" Dex demanded, anger in his voice. I could feel my face darken, and I know it was bad, but I wanted to punch Violet in the face. I walked to the glass window, and saw a girl with stormy blue eyes who looked oddly out of place. Maybe she was Violet. She glanced around that room, and started to talk, her gaze never staying in one place. I couldn't hear her, so I raced back to my spot at the door.
"Do you know the people that I've hurt? Do you know the pain I've caused?" She mumbled, holding Amy's hand. What was Amy doing here?
"I understand your concerns, but we needed to have a backup plan-" Mr.Forkle began, but Sophie cut him off with a menacing glare. That's my girl I though, feeling a big grin begin to grow on my face, but it immediately went away when I heard what Sophie said next.
"The Black Swan just lost their moonlark."
