(a/n hey! So unfortunately, there won't be as much Sokeefe as I'd like in this chapter, mostly because of stupid Neverseen. I finished all of my school work yesterday, so today is ALL FREE. I'm so bored, and I just forced myself to get off my phone and onto a different, slightly more productive device, so I'll be writing a lot. Enjoy!)
"Tam, I'm really sorry-" I tried, but his face was unreadable. I honestly wished he had started sobbing, because it might have been easier. Suddenly, he stood up, and started pacing around the hall. We were in yet another bright white hallway, and there seemed to be millions of them. Just as I thought he was about to speak, someone came running down the hallway. Out of instinct, I let the light through me, and Tam stepped back into shadows. My head became airy, but it felt good. I turned to see who was racing down the halls, and saw Violet red in the face and out of breath.
(a/n I got bored, then distracted, and I procrastinated for hours so... whoops. )
"Hey! What's wrong?" I asked, letting the light flood back into my body. Violet shrieked, and whatever she was holding flew up into the air. Just as it was about to collide with the ground, Tam took a step out of the shadows and caught it, which caused Violet to scream. Again. Shaking, she reached her hand out, and snatched what she had dropped out of his hand.
"I swear, you crazy elves are going to give me a heart attack." Violet murmured, placing her hand on her chest. "The Neverseen are coming here. I was carrying a bomb-" She said with a pointed look at me- "That I almost detonated due to the fact people hide in the literal shadows." She was still slightly shaking, so I slowly reached over and took the small device. She definitely shouldn't be holding it.
"The Neverseen are here?" Tam snapped, and Violet blushed.
"No, but they will-" Before Violet could finish her sentence, Tam had started running down the hall.
"Well. I guess I should help." I said, shifting my focus to Violet.

We had set up 17 bombs around the perimeter, and Amy was in charge of setting them off when needed. Everyone was in their gear, and I was avoiding Tam, and wasn't sure if I should be avoiding Linh. Everyone was in their position, and Tam and I had already become invisible. Our plan was simple- don't let them know how many people we have, know where the bombs are and... no hostages. I don't know how we are supposed to deal with the guilt, but Elwin said he was working on something that we'd take after the battle. Just as I was starting to think I was alone in my quadrant, the wind picked up and blew my hair around. Violet shackley disended, carrying a knife in each hand.
"Hey." I said, letting the light through me so she could see who she was dealing with. Startled, Violet stumbled back, but responded with a weak 'hi.' I really needed to stop creeping this girl out. Get ready. Sophie said, transmitting to all of our minds at the same time. I leaped over and grabbed Violet by hand, and we both became invisible. Ready. I transmitted back to her, and could hear everyone else reply. Ready. Edaline and Grady said, followed by Marella and Jensi, and Keefe and Fitz. That pairing must be awkward. In the horizon, I could see the Neverseen approaching, being lead by a thin woman in a purple. Vespera was not going to come out of this battle alive. When they finally reached us, Vespera looked confused, her head on a swirl. I let go of Violet's hand, and she immediately started to slam people against walls and on the ground. Still invisible, I took out my knifes and launched myself at Vespera. It was time she got some scars of her own.

The One With All the Sokeefe.
FanfictionThis takes place right after book 8.5 in the series Keeper of the Lost Cities, and it's told by mostly Sophie and Keefe's points of view. This is my first fanfic, so I hope you like it! Disclaimer: all of these characters belong to Shannon Messenge...
