(a/n I'm currently writing this, and it's the first of June!! To celebrate, I already had a bunch of ideas about different characters sexualities, but never had a great place to put them. So I'll mention a couple here, and post more chapters where the characters came out. Happy Pride!!!)
"I. Will. Not." I growled, making Keefe flinch.
He slowly approached me, "It's just... I think we should be careful!" He gestured wildly, looking ridiculous. "And this will put Amy's mind at ease," He said. The beautiful blonde boy knew exactly what to say.
After a long sigh, "Okay. But you have to read the directions, and you cannot mess this up."
Keefe grinned, "When was the last time I made a mess of things?" He patted the chair, and grabbed the hair dye from the bag.
"This morning, when you spilled the milk. Last night, when you dropped your plate and it shattered! And then again when-"
"I get it, you're not the only clutz in the house." Keefe laughed, cutting me off. "Although it concerns me that you had a whole list at the ready." He shook the container, and I grabbed a towel from the kitchen cabinets. Even with this house being empty, whenever when Keefe was around I never felt lonely.
"Oh, it wasn't a list. Just from the top of my head." I shoved the heavy door open, and Keefe ran to our backyard like a happy kid. To be honest, he was a happy kid. I saw down on the lush grass, and watched him prepare. His hands wrapped the towel around my shoulders, and the second we touched shivers ran down my spine. He straightened it, and uncapped the bottle. "If I had more time, it would have gone on a lot longer."
Keefe smirked, "Ready?" My hands began to shake a little, and my heart started to beat faster. Looking back up at his eyes, all fear melted away. I gave a swift nod, and he shook started to spray the black sludge. It made a hissing sound, and I could feel a little piece of me changing. I loved my hair, and it was something that made me feel... pretty.
"Maybe I'll look better with black hair?" I said, but it came out more questionable.
"You'll look beautiful no matter what hair color you have." Keefe said nonchalantly, focusing on his task. "You're just beautiful." He said quietly, blushing a little.
I had to stop myself from throwing my arms around him and kissing him,"Aww, you're sweet." His cheeks lit up bright red, and he mumbled a response I couldn't quite make out. As Keefe picked up another piece of my hair, Violet and Amy ran through the gates.
"Hey!" Amy said cheerfully, arm wrapped around Violets. It's so great that she found such a good friend. Although the way they looked at eachother, the way that they would blush when they would touch each other, it didn't look like she was a very good friend. It almost looked like they were in a relationship. (a/n no duh Sophie. No duh. BTW I'd like to point out that the Sophie in my universe is a total ally, and once Amy comes out to her, she is her number one supporter.)
"How's it going?" Violet said cautiously, seeing Keefe a stuttering mess, and my hair slowly getting ruined.
"It's... uh..." Keefe said, looking down at his hands like he had no idea what they were doing.
"Oh my god... Keefe, what have you done? " Violet laughed, breaking free of Amy's grip and running over to him. She took the bottle, and began to dye my hair. My eyes drifted over to Amy, who was looking at Violet. The more and more I saw those two together, my 'Amy likes boys' theory went out the window.
"So... pride month's soon. Are you guys going to celebrate?" I asked, very stealthily. Amy's cheeks turned bright red, and her eyes were glued to the floor.
"I... I mean, I probably will. I'm omnisexual." Violet said, glancing back to Amy. Her face had turned bright red, but a thin smile appeared on her lips.
"Cool! My great aunt is too." Keefe beamed, causing Violet is grin.
Picking up another lock of my hair, Violet spoke again, "Most people don't know what it means..." She trailed off.
"Well, in the 'elf world'," Keefe said, putting air quotes around elf world, "everyone is accepted. Most of my family is queer, so I learned the terms at a very young age. Wylie's transgender, and I'm pan."
"That's awesome!" Amy blurted out, turning beet red.
"I still can't believe you had a thing for Fitz." I teased, making him grin. Keefe never had to come out to me, it was more fluid. We had talked about us both liking boys before, and I just accepted that it was part of who he was. But when he told me he used to like Fitz, it took everything in me not to laugh.
"Well I wasn't the one who actually dated him." Keefe smirked, making me laugh. "But I'm glad that we ended up together." Thinking about how crazy my life had been, how it still wasn't over, made me realize how much I agreed with him. He was a part of me now, and always would be there. I couldn't be happier.

FanficThis takes place right after book 8.5 in the series Keeper of the Lost Cities, and it's told by mostly Sophie and Keefe's points of view. This is my first fanfic, so I hope you like it! Disclaimer: all of these characters belong to Shannon Messenge...
