(a/n hi! I don't know if there is anyone reading this, and I'm also working on another original piece called through my dreams.  If on the off chance someone is reading this, pls put it in the comments so I'll know to keep writing. Enjoy the chapter!)

I had been living with Keefe for a month, and I was anxiously waiting for him to get back from the store. My hair dye had started to wear out, and I couldn't risk my mom and dad seeing me. We lived in a house a couple of blocks from Amy's, and my parents didn't know me, or have ever seen me. But I've kept my hair black, because I think that will keep the elves away from me. And you can never be to safe. I heard a click coming from downstairs, so I jumped off my bed and ran down.

"Hey Foster." Keefe smirked, holding two bags in his hands. I darted past him, and slammed the door shut before anyone could get in.

"Hey! Got them?" I said, reaching into his bags. Inside there was the hair dye, but also a bunch of chips and salsa. I shouldn't be surprised though, because Keefe had taken a liking to Mexican food.

"Yep! I also got some snacks, because I'm always hungry." Shrugged Keefe. "Ready to start?" Eager to begin, I replied by racing to the sink (it never got that gross, because we didn't do much cooking. Or any cooking). Keefe had to dye my hair every week, and he had gotten surprisingly good at it. I popped off the lid, and handed the container back to Keefe. He grabbed the bottle, and shook it a couple of times. "Close your eyes." He said. I obeyed, and plugged my nose for good measure. PPPPPPPPHSSSSSSSSHHHH

"SOPHIE I KNOW YOU'RE IN THERE! AMY TOLD US! OPEN THE DOOR BEFORE WE HAVE TO!" A voice rang, and echoed in our empty living room. Keefe abruptly stopped spraying, and I slowly opened my eyes. Keefe brought his finger to his lips, and we both we silent as mice. Keefe? Is that... I transmitted, still in shock. Marella? Yeah.. Should we run or stay? Keefe asked. I think we should stay, until we know who she's with. If they're a member of the Black Swan, I'll inflict on them, and then we bolt. I demanded. But... Marella's in the Black Swan. said Keefe. Yeah, but I trust her.  I said. Just as my hand touched the door handle, the door flew off of it's hinges. I heard someone scream, and strong arms grabbed me from behind. Keefe pulled me into our closet, but not before using telekinesis to make our couch (and only piece of furniture) slam into the wall, and break it.

"Sophie! Keefe! Come out right now." Alden yelled.  I could hear shuffling, and I was shaking with fear. They couldn't be here. We had been so carefu-

"What if Amy was lying?" Dex. I almost let out a cry, but Keefe held his hand over my mouth. Keefe, should we go?  I transmitted. We don't know who else is out there. If you want, I can go out, pretend you're not here, and if Mr.Forkle is there you can inflict. Keefe replied. I hate that plan. I said. But it's a good one. Keefe's hand had loosened. Who had I become? I can't keep letting other people take the risks for me. Begrudgingly, I nodded my head. Keefe slowly moved around me, and I sat in the bottom corner of the closet. Keefe stood still for a second, before he opened and shut the door faster than I could have.

"What are you guys doing here." Keefe demanded, in a icy tone. I could hear some shuffling, but no one opened the closet.

"Keefe! Where's Sophie?" Dex asked. I could hear more movement. God, I really hated being stuck in the dark. Literally. Frantically, I transmitted again. Keefe who is out there?

"Sophie. Isn't. Here. What I want to know, is why are you? And is anyone with you?" asked Keefe, sounding the angriest I've ever heard him.

"What? No, it's just the four of us." Marella said. FOUR? Who's the fourth? I was practically screaming now. Don't worry, it's just Jensi. Keefe said calmly. Please make sure that they're not lying. I begged.

"Give me your hands." Keefe said.

"Why?" Jensi finally spoke up.

"Give. Me. Your. Hands." growled Keefe. After an agonizing minute of radio silence, Keefe spoke.

"It's just them." Keefe said, but before he finished his sentence I was already bursting out of the closet. I ran up to Dex, and I was a blubbering mess.

"Oh my god I missed you so much!" I yelled, wrapping Dex in a humongous hug. I ran to Marella, and did the same to her.

"You totally sound like Janet." Muttered Keefe.

"Sophie! Your hair!" Shouted Marella, and she was already examining it.

"Really? That's what you care about right now? Her hair?" Alden said, a scowl on his face. "You've been gone for a month Sophie! Edaline is a mess, Grady is still missing, and Fitz and Biana have been worried sick!" Alden exploded. He took a step towards me, and Keefe was there in a flash, standing between us.

"Alden, take a step back right now, or me and Foster will be out of here before you can report back to the Black Swan." Keefe said slowly. Alden's scowl deepened, but he took a step back. "We have a few questions." Keefe said.

"You have questions? Keefe, you are not in the place to be making demands." Alden raged.

"You know what a lot of free time is good for? Practicing new abilities, so yes, I think that I am quite capable of pulling the shots around here." Ordered Keefe. Aldens face looked like he had tasted something very sour. "Did you tell Mr.Forkle that you've found us?"

"No, but we were just about to. Why, do you need to talk to him?" Jensi said, pulling out an imparter.

"DON'T" I yelled. Locking eyes with Keefe, I said the words I never wanted to say. "Guys, Mr.Forkle has been lying to us from the moment I met him."
