Here were are again with another part to Episode 9.
Last time, Joyce is on her way to Hawkins and spies the heavy traffic, recognizing certain people and knows the cars are coming from Hawkins which causes her to speed towards the town to find out what's going on.
Chief Grant contacts Robin who in turn contacts Steve to try and assess the situation in town and the chief joins the caravan to find out where it leads, leaving information for the two officers to follow in case of emergency.
Ted gives Mike the talk and they have a little conversation as to what makes a man a good man and we get to see a side of Ted that the show will probably never... er... show.
Steve and Robin visit the Wheelers and inform them on the situation then head out to try and find any other residents who might be unaffected.
The Soviets are watching and aware of the situation as well, the telepath, Kisa, wants to test out her powers but Tamaz won't let her beyond the reading of Steve and Robin's mind. When asking about Dimitry giving up secrets, Tamaz claims that their enemy most likely doesn't know, given Mike and El are unprotected still.
Reaper meanwhile, has Starling work on deciphering the recording of Dimitry's confession as it is in Russian then he goes to check on Samantha and she asks why there are no soldiers with them. Reaper tells her that they won't work for this kind of mission and that he'll take care of the soviets himself. And thus ends the chapter.
Onto this one!
This song is best played for the last section of the chapter (a hint for those who love to listen to music while reading and also applies to the gif for the chapter as well.)

The Outskirts of Hawkins
Joyce parked the car in the front of the office for The Cozy Inn and slid out, Murray right behind her.
She took in the surroundings, noting no other cars in the lot and shifted her gaze over to Murray who shrugged.
Jonathan pulled up to her left and shut off the engine.
Closing the car door, Joyce saw Will roll down the window and she leaned down to speak to her sons. "Wait here, okay?"
Will and Jonathan nodded and Joyce straightened her petite frame, walking with Murray into the office.
The desk was empty and the room quiet.
Reaching out, Joyce rang the bell and waited.
No one came.
Frowning, Joyce repeated her action, turning to Murray who spoke,
"Looks like no one's home."
Joyce lifted the partition on the desk and entered through the narrow hallway, Murray close behind, and into a larger office area.
"Hello? Anyone here?"
Silence met their ears.
"Perhaps they're somewhere else on the property?" Murray offered without much conviction.
"I doubt it," Joyce replied, looking around briefly before heading back out to the front. She looked down at the guest log before turning back towards the key board, noting it was full. "All the keys are here on the rack. But 10 guests, including us, were scheduled to be here through the holidays. So where are they?"
