Millie's Room

I'm not going to hurt him... you are...

The words of her father kept repeating in her head.

Millie tried to fight... to plea... to beg for him to stop... to not subject her to the punishment he laid out for her, but her father was relentless... demanding... his word was law and she was to obey. Or Finn would pay for her defiance. With his life.

She had no doubt he would follow through with his threat. Millie had witnessed the death of her lover in every lifetime she could remember, save one. Over and over again. Haunted by the memories, a cycle of misery and doom that she could not escape from.

His plans for her made Millie want to run... to go to Finn... to escape their lives... go somewhere far away... where no one could ever find them.

But that was impossible.

Father would never stop hunting for her... and when he found them both....

Millie squeezed her eyes shut then shook her head as if to ward off her distress but to no avail.

She was terrified of losing Finn... of what her father would do should she disobey him. That fear ruled her mind and she gave in, her affections for her co-star easily exploited now.

Whatever her father wanted her to do, she would do...even if ended the only love she could ever want or have.

To keep Finn safe, she must let him go.

I'm not going to hurt him... you are...

His voice and his words would not leave her and Millie's face twisted in anguish, eyes brimming over with tears that fell likerain drops and her body slumped to the ground. She brought her knees up, wrapping her arms around her legs before burying her chin dejectedly into her chest.

The girl began to weep, the sobbing muffled as her body shook, her last thoughts of Finn and what she was about to do before fatigue came and she saw and felt no more.

A humming sound broke through the haze of unconscious and Finn began to stir, his eyelids fluttering open only to wince and clench them shut from the assault of light above.

"Ah, you're awake are you? Good."

The male voice was unfamiliar and Finn croaked out, "Can you turn down the lights, they're giving me a headache."

"Ah, of course... understandable given your condition."

Finn heard the shuffling of feet, slowly relaxing his body as the man said,
