Here we are with part two of episode 9.
In part one Mike revealed his plans to Hopper about searching the lab for the remnants of Mr. Blanchley's work. The ex chief is against the idea but realizes he can't do anything to stop them from going.
Mike and El have a conversation and decide to go that night to look before the storm hits.
Meanwhile, in Pelinor, Joyce and Murray break into Reaper's apartment in search for clues to his whereabouts and the female PI finds a map of Hawkins with certain spots circled, including the Wheeler's residence and the lab.
Joyce decides to head to Hawkins in the morning and plans to inform her kids as well, knowing they'll want to come along.
Will reveals that he's sensing something big and terrible is about to happen, especially when his mother mentions Hawkins.
Back in Hawkins, Mike and El make their way to the bottom level of the lab and find a storage room at the far end. While investigating, El hears a humming noise and finds the source at the far wall. A vibration is felt when she touches the wall with her hand and she calls Mike over to check it out.
Mike feels the same thing and believes that this is the site of Blanchley's experiments with the gate but wonders why the wall is pulsing like a heartbeat.
They continue their search and Mike discovers a Vogel cut quartz crystal along with metal rods and rings.
El sees a man peeking into the room before he runs and a bright flash of light goes off. She gives chase but he's no where to be seen.
Feeling uneasy, the pair gather the equipment and head back up the stairs only to be met by Steve and Robin.
The two cops are answering a call about suspicious activity and El reveals the truth of why the teens are at the lab and what she saw as they were searching.
When it's revealed that the teens have been there longer than the 10 minutes prior to the call being sent, Steve and Robin escort them out then do a stakeout of their own to try and catch the intruder.
Varilov, the Russian teleporter, watches the teens and the cops leave, reminiscing briefly and bitterly on what he's become thanks to the scientists in the Soviet Union before Captain Gromeko calls him to return to base to continue the search for Lieutenant Dimitry who is captured and being interrogated by Reaper.
Reaper uses his thralls to scare the Russian into giving up information but passes out before the beret could get more intel on why the Soviets are in Hawkins. After inquiring about Samantha's physical and mental state after enacting psionic shields, Ryan informs him of the next phase of their plan with the radio and microwave tower being set up. Reaper then retires for a nap, needing to recharge after the strain put on controlling his thralls and ponders on what to do next to get Dimitry to talk.
Warning: Sexual situations are present for Mike and El in this chapter, some of it more explicit than usual, but still not on par with Finn and Millie's sexcapades. If such things offend you, by all means skip it. The amount of sex is quite a lot for these two in this chapter but there is a reason for that, which Mike explains while in the shower (yes, they have sex in there, too.)
And now we begin!
