Here we are again with an update. This is part two of episode 5.
I am expanding the USD in ways that the Duffers probably won't do, given there is more life than what they have shown but given the Dungeons and Dragons lore about Mindflayers (illithids) they need sources of living things to survive. Thralls, slaves are a part of this though the Duffers version is somewhat different, instead of eating brains, the Mindflayer makes his own thralls and uses mind control and possession.
My version of the Mindflayer does more than just what has been shown and you will see what that is at some point. Just like D and D though, the Mindflayer isn't the only being from outside the prime worlds (living realms) and you will learn more about the new major creature soon enough.
Speaking of the new creature, the language you will read is in D and D, though I had to create some words that were not available for me to use. All the terms and words will be translated in the author notes at the end (It gave me such a damn headache to do this. I hope people appreciate it. I never really know if people do.)

Onto the Story!
Cold is the water
It freezes your already cold mind
Already cold, cold mind
And death is at your doorstep
And it will steal your innocence
But it will not steal your substance
But you are not alone in this
And you are not alone in this
As brothers we will stand and we'll hold your hand
Hold your hand________________
Hopper felt his heart leap into his throat, eyes clenched shut as the gun when off, slowly opening them as no pain came. He turned his gaze over his shoulder, finding another rat like creature atop the other one, a bleeding round hole between its eyes and the man brought his attention back to the creature standing before him.
The being inspected the rifle intently, nose crinkling as it sniffed the end of the barrel and it shook its head, tossing the gun back to Hopper who caught it.
He's letting me have my weapon back? How does he know I won't shoot him?
Not that Hopper would do that, especially after the being had saved his life... twice no less.
The odd creature gave a short bark of a laugh as if amused at his confused look then moved past the human, reaching out to yank the spear from the side of the first dead rodent.
The chief noted the long and ornate silver tinged sword strapped to the creature's back and his confusion grew even more. Who the hell was this guy? Where did he come from? What did he want?
The blond man's eyes widened as the creature held up his hand, the deceased rats rising slowly into the air, levitating behind the being as he stalked forward and beyond Hopper.
The actions brought to mind El, images of her flashing in his mind of her floating while fighting the mindflayer.
The creature stopped and turned suddenly, his eyes full of questions and surprise and the man stood rigid in place, blinking when the strange male shifted away but made a motion for the human to follow.
Hopper hesitated for a moment but began to start forward, slinging the gun over his shoulder as he fell in lock step behind the creature. It gave him time to study the floating rats more closely.
Besides the freakish size, there were bony spikes protruding along its spine and the mouth was full of needle sharp teeth dripping with some type of saliva that would probably prove lethal if one were bitten.
