It had been a two months since you and Hermione had met. Things were going well between the two of you. Besides the fact that she was dating Ryan Smith.

"What did you get for 5?" You asked, eyes glued to the sheet of paper on your desk.
" Um, 23. You?" Hermione responded. She was very clever in school, especially maths and science.
"Same" you smiled, "Hey, looks like I'm not useless at maths after all." The two of you chuckled.
Hermione's phone vibrated against your bed, "Awh, I'm so sorry Y/N/N, Ryan wants to take me out. Maybe we can catch up another time?" Hermione said, her voice sounded disappointed as she spoke. You turned around from your desk to face her, an annoyed look on your face, "Again? Mione, this is the third time this week you've ditched me for Ryan. He's not worth it, trust me." You said irritatedly. She looked at you, offended, "oh yeah? And how would you know? You don't even talk to him." She scoffed. "Hermione, listen to me-", "No, Y/N, you listen to me. Every time I go to spend time with Ryan, you shut it down saying he's not worth it and I'm wasting my time with him. I have never seen you socialise with him. I'll have you know, he treats me like no one else ever has. He makes me feel good about myself. He tries so hard to be nice to you because your my best friend and your always treating him like rubbish. Honestly, it's like you don't even care!" She shouted loud enough for the whole street to hear. You watched her grab her stuff, a teardrop running down her face. She walked right past you, slamming the door shut. You pressed your head against the desk and thought to yourself. If only she knew how much I care.
