SNATCH

Hey, do you have any jobs for us to do at all?

Hiko waited patiently, placing her phone onto her bed. It buzzed.

Me and Tancho will be doing work alone until you're ready to go on patrol again, sorry

She sighed.

Can you at least come and say hi?

Tancho's nearby so he can pick you up from home.

Thanks 😊

Their conversation ended, just like that. Not the shortest one they'd ever had but it could've been longer. That would've benefitted the slightly distraught girl at least a little bit.

Minutes felt like hours as she sat there in silence. Kaiyo left for hero duty, and her mother, Saya, was out working as usual. Fuji didn't bother talking to Hiko unless she talked to him first, which was very unlikely. The doorbell was supposed to ring but it didn't. She heard footsteps marching up the stairs towards her bedroom, and she waited...silently.

"The boy says he's here for you." Fuji grumbled lazily, gulping the rest of his coffee down.

"Tancho, you're here. Can we go now?" Hiko swiftly pushed herself off of her bed. The relief that surged through her veins made her forget about manners.

'Tancho. So that's the shadow kid.' Fuji mumbled to himself again, entering the master bedroom.

"Hello to you too. C'mon," Tancho said as kindly as he could while moving out of the way so Hiko could squeeze past, "this place creeps me out."

"Why?" Hiko chuckled.

"I don't like his attitude." He whispered into her petite ears.

Their hands clasped together and they began sinking through their shadows on the carpet. As soon as their faces were submerged, only one of them could use their senses. Hiko's eyesight, hearing and smell were all blocked off while Tancho's were clearly working. They reappeared just outside the house in seconds.

"I didn't know you could do that!" Hiko punched his arm jokingly.

"You didn't ask."

"Wait why are we here again?" Hiko, Tancho and Snatch were standing inside Tartarus Prison waiting for someone to collect them.

"Me and Tancho are gonna ask someone a few questions. You're going to ask someone else a few questions on your day out." Snatch grinned.

"Took you long enough." Extremely black boots clambered down to greet them.

"The prisoner is in the same spot as usual, if you wouldn't mind going over to him alone." The stern, feminine voice that was all too familiar to Hiko boomed at them.

Something clicked in the back of Hiko's mind.

"I completely forgot! It's Saturday, isn't it?!" Mockingbird nodded her head to confirm.
