The six of them walked into Hiko's former home and stared in horror. Glass and blood stained the carpets.
"Why don't we start in the living room and make our way around. We'll gather anything we think could have importance to you or if you'd like to keep it and leave the rest for you to go through. Just call if you need anything, we're here for you." Kaiyo calculated.
"Uh...right. I'll go look in the kitchen." Hiko said, turning around and striding quickly to the kitchen to be out of sight.
Kugutsu's attention immediately focused on a family photo. Hiko, her parents, brother and grandmother and snuck a smile. Kyokuuta and Akihari gathered all the pictures, jewellery and ornaments and placed them all in a neat pile around the coffee table. They noticed a large gourd like object but decided not to lift it as it would be too heavy for them. Akihari kept on grumbling the entire time.
"Why was I brought along?" She asked.
"Just shut up and be nice. Don't be insensitive." Her friend elbowed her in the arm gesturing for her to stop.
Kaiyo scanned the walls. Nothing slightly important came into view apart from one thing. A wonderfully beautiful, small painting splattered with blood. Carefully, she shifted the blood off the painting to reveal what was left. A glistening river cutting through a glorious forest, the sun casting an amber sheet of light as it rose.
In the kitchen, Hiko immediately darted towards a glass ornament. A perfect sculpture of a glorious swan. Shedding a few tears, she cupped it in her hands and brought it into the lounge area (where everyone else was) and placed it on the coffee table for everyone to see.
"That's beautiful." Kyokuuta remarked as she moved objects out of her way some of which joining the collection. Hiko immediately went through everything the others had gathered, tossing out very few things and keeping most of them.
In an attempt at small talk she said "So...where am I sleeping? On the couch?"
"Nope!" Kaiyo replied brilliantly, "There's a really nice spare bedroom that you can decorate and use."
"Oh...that's nice." She murmured before returning to sorting out the artifacts in front of her.
"What's the thing on the cabinet?" Akihari asked, pointing to the guourd like ornamental figure on top of the wooden draws.
"That's...my grandfather." Quivering, Hiko looked away from the rest of the group ducking her face into her slightly damp hoodie.
"Oh...sorry for asking." Aki-chan mumbled whilst picking her feet up to lift the object and carry it to the table. Both her and Kyokuuta were right it was heavy. Kugutsu immediately rushed over to assist in carrying the item.
"Something as valuable as this..." she spoke, "should stay with you forever."
After another half an hour of rummaging through everything, it was time to head upstairs. Kyokuuta and Aki-chan took care of the spare rooms, Kugutsu taking care of the smallest bedroom. That left Kaiyo and Hiko to deal with Hiko's room. After that, there was only one room left. The room they all dreaded to go into.
"Lets begin." Kaiyo breathed in for about eight seconds before releasing her breath in a desperate attempt to contain her shackled emotions.
"How about this?" She asked holding up a plushie of a bright yellow and rich black mouse like creature.
"Yeah...I want to keep Pichu." Hiko replied, staring down at everything in her dressing table.
Her friend jumped off the bed and leaned down beside her, placing a hand on her shoulder.
"I know it's difficult but you'll get through this."
Hiko nodded as Kaiyo wiped away the tear that trickled down the heartbroken's cheek.
*Time skip brought to you by me because I'm too damn lazy
"So...that's everything?" Mitsuki asked after standing outside for what seemed like centuries. Hiko responded with a nod as everyone heaved everything into Kaiyo's family car. She waved to her family, signalling for them to drive off towards their house.
"We should get going too."
"R-right. Thank you...for everything."_____________
That wraps up this chapter!! For some reason I enjoyed writing this chapter more than a lot of the others. Maybe it's because of how calm the atmosphere is...or maybe the fact I had a glass or two of gin before I started. I don't know and I definitely do not care!!!
Thanks for reading, byeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!
