Nightmares. Everyone's worst fears come to life and no matter what they do, it never ends. Now imagine this happening in a world where people can give you nightmares, make them worse, and feed off of your fear. That was exactly what was happening to the third years at U.A. Only the third years, no-one else.
Okami and Kugutsu were surrounded by rubble and debris, hundreds if not thousands of people, their bodies obscured by a glitch-like effect. Kugutsu spoke to Okami but her voice was muffled. He tried talking back but nothing came out. What followed broke Okami's heart. Kugutsu was crushed by rubble, dead.
He woke up covered in sweat, breathing heavily. He checked his phone, a missed call from Kugutsu three minutes ago. She had a similar nightmare but in a different location, Okami being the one who died in a horrific way. She told him that Stain, the hero killer, slit his throat and, as he clawed at the air, he bled out and perished.
"It's only a nightmare, nothing more nothing less." Kugutsu said to comfort him.
"I know but it just felt so real."
"Hey guys!! Wanna know something crazy?! Me, Mitsuki AND Kyokuuta all had similar nightmares last night!" Koneko ran up to the couple and her face emitted pure joy. Mitsuki and Kyokuuta soon followed.
"The same thing happened to me and Kugutsu." Okami wasn't that worried about it but he still wanted to hear about his friends' nightmares.
"Me, Mitsuki and Kyokuuta were all surrounded by rubble, like a destroyed building or something. And Mitsuki was suddenly stabbed through the heart. There were other people there but I couldn't see them and everyone's voices were muffled." Koneko explained.
"In my dream, us three were together in the same place. Mitsuki was already dead but Koneko turned...feral...and lashed out at anyone near her, including me. I guess I died because everything went dark and then I woke up."
"Kyokuuta was engulfed by blue flames in mine." Mitsuki smiled, "I think something went through my chest but I didn't feel it and I don't know what happened afterwards."
Everyone found it odd that they all had nightmares all happening in the same place, seemingly at the same time, but they took no notice of it until they got to class.
"Hey...did anyone else have a nightmare last night?" Kaiyo asked, almost troubled.
Everyone immediately put their hands up.
"What happened in yours, Kaiyo? You seem...oddly distressed by it." Soraia laid a hand on Kaiyo's shoulder.
"Someone pushed Hiko into a pool and...I somehow pushed them away but by the time I did it...Hiko was dead."
"Ryukyu died in mine!!" Nejire shouted out almost excited to hear everyone elses.
"Me, Tamaki, Nejire and Hiko were all fighting a super powerful villain. We all died!" Mirio laughed.
"Takumi and I killed each other." Kuki said from the corner of the classroom.
"Me, Shibire, Oku and Kana were forced to kill each other." Tatsumi said.
"What about yours?" Nejire asked Soraia, who looked very saddened.
"Well...I saw...Akihari. We were fighting together in a corridor, and I think other people were helping us, but she was shot in the back of the head by someone." Everyone gasped but quickly turned their attention to Tamaki, who hadn't shared his.
"And yours, Tamaki?" Everyone turned to look at him.
"I, uh..." His face went bright red, "I don't want to tell you guys."
"Aww c'mon, please?" They begged him to answer, Nejire in particular, but he didn't budge.
"I'd rather keep it to myself."
"Guys, if Tamaki doesn't feel like telling us then he doesn't have to." Mirio protected him from the 'dangerous' barrage of questions.
The speakers suddenly went off, Principal Nezu's voice blaring out of them.
"Your favourite furry principal speaking! Can Kugutsu, Rose and Sekei (pronounced Se-key-ay) please come to the my office? Thank you!"
"Guess I've gotta go. We'll speak later, okay guys?" Kugutsu sighed, her bag already on her back. Her and Okami kissed goodbye and she left.
'It'll be nice to see Rose again, but I wonder who Sekei is.' She thought as she walked down the corridor to Nezu's office.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Kugutsu was the last to enter. There was a tray of biscuits and four cups of tea on the principal's desk. Rose, the pink and green haired girl who defeated Kugutsu when Class 3-B and Class 3-A sparred, turned around and smiled. The other figure, whom she assumed was Sekei, didn't turn to greet her.
"Sit down please."
"Hiya. We're not in trouble, don't worry." Rose smiled.
"You have already met Rose, if I'm informed correctly. This is Sekei, a student in Class 3-C." The boy finally stood up and shook her hand, but his expression stayed the same.
"I'm sure you are all aware of what occured this morning?"
"Yes, sir." The three of them replied.
"Kugutsu, do you know what everyone's nightmares were?"
"Everyone except Tamaki. He didn't feel like sharing his with the rest of us."
"Did they have anything in common?"
"A few things. For starters, they all happened in similar places. A few were in a destroyed mansion, or something along those lines. The others were either at a hospital or in a city. Every nightmare involved at least one of our classmates and one of us dying. There were other people besides us, but their bodies were blurred." She explained. Rose and Sekei's classes both had the exact same experience.
"Someone is definitely causing this, but I've never seen it on this scale before."
"You mean we're being targeted?" Sekei asked after finishing his tea.
"Yes. I'm not sure who it is but I have a hunch. It's only based on a few stories I have heard." The principal's eyes were extremely focused, on the three of them.
"Do we have something to do with this?" Rose questioned.
"Not directly. I want you three to inform any of the staff about any other strange brain activity."
"Strange brain activity?" Rose wondered what that meant.
"Like what we experienced today. Certain memories, dreams and nightmares being scarily similar to others, right?" Kugutsu hit the jackpot with her answer.
"Right, but I'll need to do more research before we can be certain. You are dismissed."
The three of them bowed before getting back to class.
"That was impressive, sir." Rie, a member of The Dragon's Table, applauded their leader.
"I can do far more than that. They're nightmares, but they will become reality soon enough." He grinned evilly.
"Do you want me to call for everyone to discuss this?"
"No, I have already telepathically sent what I projected into their minds to you all. Everything will proceed as usual. I need everyone to hear this, but Hoshi is stirring up chaos on that island country."
"You mean Aurea? I knew we were strong but he's on a whole different level!" She was shocked to hear that he was the one controlling everything in that kingdom.
"I have a task for you. Find Shingetsu, he is currently in Shanghai trying to find information on the one Yuki brought in. Lobo..."
