"Hiko, get up! Breakfast is ready." Kaiyo shouted upstairs, anticipating a hangry Hiko rushing downstairs in the happiest mood she would ever be in. Thankfully Hiko wasn't thinking about her dead grandmother or the fact that she doesn't know her parents or the day she was born, so she was happy. The smell of fresh fruit and syrup filled the air when they both ran into the living room together. Marley and Me was ready to begin. Everything was perfect.

"Ooh pancakes with fruit and syrup. This is nice." Hiko smiled as she took a seat and poured maple syrup over her pancakes. (Japanese pancakes not American. They're fluffier, lighter and traditionally very...big? They're taller than other pancakes. Check them out)

"Ready to watch Marley and Me?" Kaiyo asked. She'd already seen the film once before but it was a while since then. A box of tissues sat on the coffee table as the two began the film.

*One hour and fifty five minutes later

"Aaaaahhh!!" Kaiyo and Hiko wept tears of sorrow, clutching each other as tightly as possible. No amount of pancakes was going to help.

"I-I-It was so sad...they went to the thing...and then the dog-" Hiko couldn't see through her tears. The tissue box was now empty.

Ding dong!! Unfortunately, today was the day the mailman visited.

"Hello, package for-" Frozen in shock, perhaps even horror, he placed the package down, took one glance at the TV and calmly returned to his van.

Swiping tears away, she passed Kaiyo the envelope.

"Ooh it's Natsuo~~" The blue haired, heart eyed girl said, unfolding the letter happily.

Hey Kaiyo

Just writing to ask you to watch over my little brother Shoto. He'll be going to U.A in a month and I just want to make sure nothing bad happens to him. Mom cares a lot about him, you know?

How are you? I hope you're doing well. College has been pretty boring. Fuyumi tries her best to help but she has to work almost all the time. I've managed to lose my phone already and can't find it anywhere. When I get a new one I'll call you. Maybe me, you and a bunch of friends can hang out !

Write to me when you can

Yours Sincerely

           Natsuo Todoroki

Hiko peeped over her shoulder in an attempt to read it and asked, "Wait you know Natsuo?! What's it about?"

"Yeah, we were friends back at our old school. He wants me to watch over his brother at U.A, he's lost his phone so he wants me to write back when he can."

"Well good luck with that." The tone in her voice sounded slightly...jealous. "You're seventeen?"

"Not yet but my birthday's in December. When's yours?" Kaiyo asked sincerely.

"I don't know..."

Silence. The few short seconds felt like days as they both stood in silence.

"Hiko I'm so sorry I shouldn't have-"

"Don't be, you didn't know."

In an attempt to change the subject Kaiyo asked, "Hey wanna go out shopping with the rest of the girls? I've already arranged to meet them all anyway."

"Sure." Hiko spoke softly, quietly, as if she was her old self again.
