_________________________________________When I opened my eyes, I heard several voices. They were in deep discussion, of what I couldn't tell.
When I came to and searched for familiar faces, Cole appeared, offering a hand.
I saw that nearly half the employees were gathered in the room and the cops were nowhere to be seen.
"Are you alright?" Cole asked, steadying me.
I took a deep breath, eyeing everyone.
"I'm not sure. Where- where are the police?"Cole scratched his head.
"They left twenty minutes ago, said that they'd gathered enough. You've been out cold for twice that amount of time. We were about to call an ambulance if you didn't wake."
I shut my eyes, remembering the embarrassing video.
"I suppose this has affected my job." I guessed.
Cole looked down at me with a soft expression.
"Not in my eyes. The cops made it clear you were off with a warning, didn't they? You don't have anything to worry about. We've given you pay for the amount of time you weren't on the clock."
I blew out a sigh of relief, shocked at this fact.
"Oh my god... I don't know how to thank you..."
He smiled. "You can start by calling me by my first name more often. I don't like feeling like I'm some strict asshole."
I nodded. "Right... sorry... Cole."
He smiled down at me once again, unwilling to look away. For a moment I thought I saw a sparkle in his green eyes.
Tawnee instantly bursted into the office through the throng of employees, wrapping her arms around me.
"Oh my dear, are you okay? You passed out for quite some time-! Do you need to go home?"
I shook my head. "No, I can't. I have to stay. I didn't work enough hours. My income-"
"If housing is what you're concerned about," Tawnee began, "the hotel expenses are paid for by the company."
Oh that was right. I had honestly forgotten about that, though I did still need to save up for any other expenses.
I still needed a car.
"I'm very appreciative of that." I smiled. "I just have other bills to pay."
"I see," Tawnee nodded, "As long as you're sure, I'll fax you the workload for the morning. If you need help with anything throughout the day, please don't hesitate to ask. I will be standing by, in my office, until lunch."
After sharing a tight hug, Tawnee left the office, gathering the group of employees with her.
Cole turned back to me, tipping his head.
"So, should we plan for a lunch date? Or maybe I could give you a ride home."
I remembered Hero offering to do both those things. If I was being honest with myself, I wanted nothing more than to be near him and only him.
