I hope you are all having a good morning. I'm loving all the feedback and love I'm receiving for this series.
You make me believe I really can achieve greater things ✨✨
________________________________________As soon as I managed to calm my breathing, a loud knock sounded on the door. Looking up, I saw that Brendan was peeking his head through.
Apparently I hadn't locked it.
"You okay, girl?" He asked. "Jo sent me a message."In turn, I heard the vibrator buzz, creating sound off my nearby shelf. I did my best to kick it away but then the wall began convulsing.
Fuck.
I cleared my throat.
"I'm fine. I just started my month."
Brendan nodded. "Okay... um... what is that noise?"
As his eyes began searching my office frantically, I raced to shut it.
"Sorry. I'll see you in a second. I need to some peace so I can clean my office."
I shut the door without waiting to hear a reply, but just as I turned, Brendan called out:
"Did you need a ride home?"
"Oh-yes-!" I clutched my chest. "Just give me a minute to finish this!"
Without hesitation, I hurried to the vibrator to stow it away in my desk.
After I had finished tidying my office to my satisfaction, I met Brendan out in the lobby. I knew I should have texted Hero or at least waited for him, but I was feeling rebellious.
Since he wanted to surprise me, it was only fit I gave him one of my own.
I'd show up unannounced.
On the way, Brendan was incessant, gushing over seeing Cole.
Apparently he had been in the office but he'd been sneaky, entering through doors he knew I wouldn't pass through.
"He was acting weird today." Brendan said. "He asked so many times if you were absent or on lunch."
I shrugged, trying to come off confused.
"Yeah, that is weird. I don't know. I did recently call out so maybe it was some confusion with corporate."
Brendan pondered on this for a moment.
"I suppose Tawnee could have forgotten to alert them. I guess it doesn't really matter... back on my situation at hand... Cole was looking so fine today."
I swallowed, feeling a twinge of guilt. But why?
"It's that kiss he gave me." He went on, turning the steering wheel gently. "I know I shouldn't think about it but I can't help it. He's all the more attractive now. It takes a real man to seperate feelings."
I tried to laugh, though it broke off painfully.
"I couldn't imagine what that's like."
Was not telling Hero about the kiss eating away at me?
Brendan sighed.
"I don't want to brag but it was soft and sweet and... oh, it's not like you care. You have your own beau that is basically sex on legs."
I didn't get to voice my concerns before Brendan had pressed down on the brakes lurching me forward. I saw that we were now parked in the apartment complex.
"Rain check for wedding attire?"
Brendan asked as I set my hand on the car handle.I smiled. "Definitely."
I heard Brendan exit the lot as I approached the door to the apartment. I paused, feeling a flit of nervousness hit my senses.
A sudden force was begging me to not open the door.
Don't! Turn away! It's not a good time.
I, however, ignored the small voice in my head. I was never one to go along with my gut like a sane person.
Why would I now?
Turning the knob slowly, I made my way inside. Straight away, I heard a few voices coming from the living room.
"No, what the fuck are you doing!"
"Relax. I want to play with you."
I knew I didn't recognize whoever was talking to my boyfriend. Running to the living room, I saw that it already looked disorderly.
The couch had been flipped on its side with the cushions scattered. Not only that, but Hero and a girl I'd never met before were sat upon a chair, with her straddling him.
To make matters worse, I saw some of her bright red lipstick on the white shirt he was wearing.
They continued struggling on the chair until they saw that I was present.
"Oh," the girl breathed, "is this your girlfriend?"
Oh, so she knew I existed.
"Please, don't let me disturb you." I spoke, my eyes watering painfully.
The girl now stood up, showing off her evident curves.
I drew closer, looking at the man that I loved more than anything.
"What is this? We talk about our future at breakfast, then you fuck your whore in the evening?"
"We didn't fuck." Hero snapped.
I glared.
"No. You don't get to be mad at me. You messed up. Again, Hero. What did I do to deserve this?"
For a moment, he seemed as if he wanted to fight me on this, but eventually replied with disdain.
"This is something you shouldn't be shocked at. Like you said; I'm always fucking random girls."
I drew in a sharp breath at this. So this was revenge for him? To get back at me?
I scoffed.
"Fine. Carry on. You're not the one that's leaving this time."
As I left out the door, I finally realized why I always felt guilt over hearing Cole's name.
He was nothing like Hero.
I'm sorry to break your hearts again 😭💗
Remember this though:
Nothing is what it seems.
