Trust me. It gets better.

After much arguing with the others, I got my way.

There were a million questions the rest of the group pressed, but I didn't answer any. I was content on keeping my secret until I figured all this bullshit out.

I didn't refrain from running inside the apartment. When I entered it was quiet and empty. My heart beat erratically as I hurried to the fridge for a water.

It wasn't long before I heard the front door open.

Hiding myself against the kitchen walls, I heard two voices speaking.

"I don't get why you wanted to come here." Hero's voice cut though the empty house.

No.

Why the fuck wasn't he threatening her? That bitch was all over him. It was Ellen I knew it was.

"I wanted to show what you were missing." Came her smooth voice.

Hero expelled a long breath.

"Just don't mention this to Kristina," He replied, "I don't give a-"

Without waiting to hear the rest of his sentence, I shuffled to the living room with my hands balled into fists. I was no longer understanding.

I was livid.

Ellen was unashamed, waving at me.

"Hi, Kristina."

I narrowed my eyes.

"You're lucky I don't skin you alive right now."

Hero approached me warily.

"Hey, calm down."

I snorted.

"You have no room to talk, asshole. I gave you the benefit of the doubt. Yeah, that's right. TMZ snapped a shot of you two at the club. If you'd wanted to meet her in secret, all you had to do was call off the wedding."

He shook his head adamantly.

"No, you don't understand."

I glared.

"I've been here the whole time. I heard you tell her not to say a thing to me. Was this done before you sought me out at the club?"

Hero paused to close his eyes.

"Yes, but I had a-"

I laughed darkly.

"I don't want to hear it."

Turning away from Hero, I looked at Ellen only seeing red. She was like an all too welcome punching bag ready for my use.

"I hope you enjoyed your ten minutes of fame." I snapped.

"Yes, I'm glad I could get a taste-"

She didn't get to finish her sentence. I had contemplated on punching her with my fist, but it seemed too tame for a slut like her.

I craned my head back, throwing it forward, so it collided with her symmetrical face, making it bloody and bruised.

She fell to the ground, knocked out cold.

Hero screamed, taken aback by my sudden outburst.

"What the fuck!"

I glowered.

"What? Are you surprised that you finally pushed me over the edge? This is what you do to me."

Hero stared down at Ellen, still unconscious on the floor.

"I was leading her here, Kristina."

Before I could open my mouth to make a smart response, he went on.

"No, listen. You've now made things more difficult. I'm done with everyone's shit. That girl violated me. I made a point of getting the cops on her ass for a restraining order. I didn't want to say anything while she was around."

I was still fuming as I heard the sound of sirens outside the apartment, then saw the bright lights emanating off the windows.

Before he turned to open the door, he frowned at me.

"Still think I'm lying?"

I stood off to the side while the department escorted Ellen out, reading her her rights. Hero was worried I would have to make a statement because of the damage I'd caused, but they let me off with a warning.

When the apartment was finally emptied, silence lingered between us, making the atmosphere uncomfortable.

I sat on the couch, pouting like a small child.

"You're still mad at me?" Hero demanded.

I huffed, unwilling to answer him.

What was I mad for? The truth. The truth was why I didn't want to get over my feelings.

Hero knelt by my legs, grasping my knee-caps.

"What have I done wrong? I told you the truth... I was faithful... I got her locked up... what more do you want from me?"

I wiped at a stray tear before facing him again. My face felt hot.

"I'm not mad at you, per-se. I'm mad at myself and my thoughts."

Hero grasped both my hands in his.

"Tell me about it."

I took a deep breath before answering.

"I'm still looking for possible lies somewhere. I know that's wrong but I don't understand how you don't stray to her. I mean at one time you cheated with Kylie."

Hero groaned.

"That was different. We weren't really together at that time. What's so special about that blonde anyway?"

I rolled my eyes. As if he didn't know.

"Every guy wanted her in school. She's still so stunning. She's not a bible thumper like me and she knows how to lure someone like you in."

Hero framed my face in his hands.

"We've been over this, but I'll repeat myself. She may be stunning and gorgeous but the only person I want is you. She doesn't exist to me. None of them do. We are getting married. Isn't that enough?"

I lowered my head breaking down into tears.

"I'm sorry!" I sobbed. "It should be- it is! That was just my worst fear; to find that you cheated on me on the eve of our wedding."

He gathered me into his muscled arms, shaking his head.

"Cut that meaningless shit out, baby. It's just you and me against everyone else. You know that. Besides, I'm not that stupid."

I laughed at this. Yes. He would have to be very stupid.
