As I made it out the door, I ran my hands through my hair.
This can't be real. This can't be real.
Hero had said that he hadn't slept with that girl, but what could I believe? He had her straddled on top of him, without any thought to how I would feel. The girl obviously had no problem with the fact that I'd caught them. She was just like the rest of the girls Hero surrounded himself with.
They were all whores.
Where was I to go now?
Would I have to find a hotel to sleep in for the night?
I definitely wouldn't be anywhere near him.
I couldn't. Not after what I saw.
As I exited the complex, looking for an answer in the air, I saw a familiar car in the distance.
No. It couldn't be.
Upon looking closer, I saw the familiar hair and the expensive latex.Diedre was sitting, reclined in the front seat of her car, looking through a pair of binoculars. A quick surge of anger hit me. Here she was, spying on us, making me feel unsafe in my own neighborhood.
On top of everything I'd seen in the apartment, I had to deal with this crazy woman?
No. I wouldn't let her get away with this.
I charged across the street, my flats clicking against the pavement. When Diedre saw me, she lowered the binoculars, staring through her large sunglasses.
"What the hell do you think you're doing here?" I demanded. "Is hating me in secret not enough? You have to spy on me?"
Diedre sighed. "Allow me to be the adult here. I know you and I have never seen eye-to-eye, but I'm not the enemy."
I scoffed in disbelief.
"So, you're fine with Hero messing around with that... harlot in the apartment?"
I gasped.
"How do you know about that?"
Diedre grinned.
"Say what you want about me, but I do know my grandson. He's been acting quite erratic. I was suspicious so I followed him here. I suppose he thinks he's so smart allowing anyone to see him through the window."
I looked up at the window with its curtains drawn back. How was I to know that Diedre wasn't lying and scheming something conniving?
I shook my head. "I'm not trusting you. I have somewhere to be."
Diedre rested her gloved hands on her window pane."And where would that be? Did my eyes deceive me or did you just storm out of the apartment? You may as well spy with me. Unless you don't cherish your relationship."
I grunted under my breath. Diedre may have been a sneaky witch, but she had a way with doing things precise and calculated.I knew it wasn't becoming of me to stow away in a car like some personal sting, but I wanted to know what was happening.
I hurried over to the passenger seat, watching as Diedre pressed her face against the binoculars. I heard her foot tap.
"Is there another set?" I asked.
"No- sorry." She hissed.I paused, before questioning her again.
"What's happening?"
Did I really want to know this?
Diedre huffed impatiently.
"Not anything at the moment. It looks as if he might kiss her- no. He's escorting her out."
I freezed, not bothering to reply to this. I wasn't relieved, but I felt like a chip had been blown off my shoulder.
There wasn't any chance he could see me was there?
I sunk in my seat as I saw Hero and the girl exiting out the door. He placed his hands on her shoulders before she began exiting the complex and down the block.
There was too much chemistry between them. It made me want to cry.
I thought I was safely hidden away, until Hero did a double take and began making his way towards the car.
And he wasn't happy.
When he reached Diedre's window, he leaned on the pane, looking right past her, at me.
"Are you really fucking spying on me? With Diedre? What is going on here?"
"It's not like you gave me a choice." I spat.
He looked at his grandmother for a second, then back to me.
"Guess you don't hate her so much anymore."
Diedre laughed. "What's not to love? I wanted to help. You were up to no good."
Hero scoffed. "Oh no. That's far from what you wanted. I'm not into your fucking games right now."
She giggled. "What games, my dear boy? You were the one alone in the house with that girl."
Hero shook his head at me.
"Wow. She has you wrapped around her finger doesn't she? It's easy when you hate me."
Without a reply to Hero, Diedre turned to me.
"Know your worth my dear."
Why was she telling me this?
Losing his temper, Hero kicked the side of the door of the car.
"Kristina. Get out of the damn car."
I bit my lip. "No. I think I'm comfortable here."
Then, as if Hero hadn't done anything, Diedre glowered at me.
"I need you to get out of my vehicle. Now."
With a bit of hesitation, I did as I was asked but not before grabbing a filled water bottle from the floor.
I was still heated from seeing Hero so close with a stranger.
As Diedre sped away, I eyed Hero through the brown dust that had been spewed. He looked furious though he tried to move towards me.
On a quick reflex, I unfastened the cap to the bottle, effectively drowning him in liquid.
Hero spit some water out of the side of his mouth, looking incredulous.
"What the fuck?"
I began walking down the block as I spoke.
"Sorry. You looked a bit thirsty. That should satisfy you!"
