As Hero charged through the kitchen like some enraged bull, Jo's parents trailed behind him trying to diffuse the situation.

"Let's just all take a minute to relax-" her mother began, but Hero swatted her away.

"No!" He exclaimed. "I don't want any of your red-light, green-light shit! There's no way any of you could have known!"

Jo started forward.

"What is going on here?"

Her tone didn't sound very friendly.

"Mind your own fucking business, Josephine." Hero ordered, looking like he were about to snap.

Niall immediately yanked Jo behind him, puffing out his chest.

"Can you chill for a second? You're not exactly making things easier for us."

Josephine frowned. "You're ruining what could have been a perfectly good night."

Jo's mother raised a brow. "What's all this about?"

Her husband looked just as inquisitive, gathering his wife in his arms.

Josephine looked up towards Niall before answering.

"We were hoping to bring this up at dinner, but... Niall asked me to marry him."

Yeah," Niall added, "I knew I should have asked for your blessing first so I thought I could ask tonight."

For a long minute, Hero and Niall had a staring match, easily making it the hardest part of the night.

Was it so hard for Hero to believe his best friend could settle down?

Granted we were all pretty young, but just because they were close didn't mean they needed to do things the same.

"Oh, wow," Jo's mother gasped, "I really don't know what to say-"

Her father then shocked me by extending a hands towards Niall not seeming upset at all.

"I respect that, son. Of course there is a lot to talk about, but if you both feel-"

"Are you fucking kidding me?" Hero screamed. "What were we just talking about?"

Jo scoffed seeming irritated.

"Do you always have to ruin everything?"

"Oh, I forgot," Hero spit, "everything revolves around you, doesn't it?"

My eyes widened. I had never heard Josephine and Hero fight like this. It didn't take much for them to explode.

"Maybe I should leave." I began.

"No," Hero snapped turning his blazing eyes on me, "all of this is your fault, Kristina. You had one job and you couldn't even do that! You told them all about Diedre!"

"She didn't tell us," Josephine's mother argued, "it was your cousin-"

As Hero turned back to Josephine, I drew attention back to myself.

"I told her about it, Hero! She's my best friend! She had to know sooner or later!"

Jo pursed her lips. "I had to say something. If I didn't, things were only going to get worse-"

"Worse?" Hero scoffed. "You don't know a fucking thing!"

It was Chad's turn to stand between us all and put a stop to the blickering.

"Perhaps we should take this outside."

Hero glowered.

"Oh, I bet you'd like that- you know what? Fuck it. I'll gladly beat you into the ground right here and right now."

As he made his way hurriedly out the front door, everyone followed, with Chad closely behind him.
