I couldn't deny that when I woke the next morning I felt refreshed.

In his alcoholic state, Hero hadn't gone easy on my body and I was feeling the soreness in my legs.

To my shock, he looked energized and served me some toast and cereal for breakfast. In my opinion he seemed too happy after suffering a hangover.

"What's with the chipper attitude?" I asked.

Hero shrugged. "If my memory is correct, I had the chance to fuck the holy hell out of you and slept like a baby. I'd say that's enough to be grateful for."

I giggled as I drank my orange juice.

"You have to be the horniest college student I've ever met. Brendan calls you sex on legs you know."

Hero recoiled at this. I wasn't sure if it was just me, but it seemed as if he didn't favor Brendan's lifestyle much.

Just as quickly as the disgust appeared, it disappeared, replaced with a smile.

He pressed a kiss to my forehead.

"Are you complaining?"

I shook my head. "Not at all."

As Hero turned, he paused mid-step.

"I'm still upset over yesterday."

Oh. He remembered that did he?

"Can we not rehash this?" I huffed.
"Eloise and Charlie are due in court. They're going to serve life."

Hero glared. "That's still not good enough."

I looked up from my bowl.

"What else is there to do? Give them the death penalty?"

He raised a brow at this.

"If it's possible, by all means."

I rolled my eyes. He was so dramatic.

"Look, I need to get to work. Can you give me a ride?"

Hero swung around, twirling his keys around a finger.

"Come on. Let's go."

As we both made our way to his car, I caught sight of something white and familiar.

I saw that was indeed a Kia Forte.

I faced him with confusion.

"Is that... my car?"

Hero cleared his throat.

"Yeah. It is. I... spoke to that asshole about getting it towed."

How did I not notice this here last night?

And was he saying he spoke to Cole?

No. There was no such thing as Hero speaking to people he hated.

I pursed my lips.

"And he just called the tow company for you?"

He scoffed.

"No. I did. I just wanted to get the car from him."

I nodded, not finding it necessary to question him further.

When we made it to the enterprise, I rushed inside, realizing how late I was.

As I made it past the receptionist, she was just as depressed as ever. This fact didn't surprise me.

Surveying the area, I wasn't sure what I was looking for until I came face to face with Cole, though he didn't look the same as usual.

He was sporting a purple bruise and a busted lip. I rushed towards him with concern.
