Part 18 - Finding Out A Secret

*You go to find Rhodey*

*You enter the bar area and find him chatting with Steve*

Steve: "Hey, how you feeling?"

Y/N: "Pretty much good as new!"

"Uh Rhodey, can I talk to you..privately?"

Rhodey: "Yeah sure"

Steve: "I'll leave you two alone"

Rhodey: "So what's up?"

Y/N: "Um, it's about Tony.."

Y/N: "You've known him a long time haven't you?"

Rhody: "Yeah, we met on my first international assignment back in 2008"

Y/N: "So you know him pretty well, what he's like in certain situations?"

Rhody: "I guess so, yeah. We've been through a lot together. What's this all about Y/N?"

Y/N: "After I woke up, I spoke to Nat and Wanda. They told me what Tony had been doing during that time. They said they'd never seen him like that before..but you had"

Rhody: "Once."

"It was right after we met. We were on a simple recon mission but it went south and people got hurt. One of those people was Tony's fiancé, Pepper."

Y/N: "Oh my god, what happened to her?"

Rhody: "She was in a coma, almost as long as you were, but there were complications. She didn't wake up."

Y/N: *tears in your eyes* "Oh my god...I had no idea he'd been through that"

Rhody: "Well nobody did except for me"

Y/N: "So why tell me?"

Rhody: "Because you wanted to know when I'd seen him like this before. He spent months after she died trying to find the guys responsible. He threw himself into his work, barely slept, didn't talk to anyone"

Y/N: "And he was like that when I was in a coma?"

Rhody: "Yeah pretty much. Until you woke up, he was headed down the same path. I'm just glad for his sake that you did wake up, I couldn't see him spiral down that path again."

Y/N: "So when he took me on that mission and I ended up in a coma, it gave him some sort of flashback?"

Rhody: "Initially, I guess so, but he wouldn't have been tirelessly searching for Thanos if he didn't-"

*He stops*

Y/N: "If he didn't what?"

Tony: "If I didn't care about you as much as I do"

*He's standing behind you*

*You turn round and meet his gaze*

Y/N: "Tony..."

Rhodey: "I'll let you guys talk"
