Part 25 - Where's Steve?

*Everyone laughs*

Sam: "Hey where's Steve? I'm sure he'd loved to humbly step up and take on the challenge"

*You and Tony look at each other*

Wanda: "I don't know actually, last time I saw him he was heading upstairs. Y/N you went after him didn't you?"

*You look down and don't say anything*

Sam: "Y/N, what's going on? Where did Steve go?"

Y/N: "He left"

Sam: "What?"

*Tony jumps in*

Tony: "Uh, he left for a mission"

"Yeah, an old buddy of his called, said it was urgent so he had to leave right away"

Sam: "Y/N, is that true?"

Y/N: "Yeah, yeah he had to leave tonight. He said to wish you happy birthday"

Clint: "It's not like him to just leave like that without saying goodbye, though?"

Y/N: "Well like Tony said, it was urgent so.."

*You look at Tony*

*Everyone looks a little shocked and confused, but before anyone can ask you another question, Thor steps in*

Thor: "Well, we all know he wouldn't have been worthy anyway"

Nat: "Yeah, exactly. Anyway, we should probably all call it a night, it's been an eventful one to say the least!"

Y/N: "I'll stay and clear up. I made most the mess anyway, fighting Loki"

Nat: "I'll help"

*She gives you a look meaning she wants to stay and talk*

Y/N: "Thanks"

*Everyone else gets up and heads upstairs*

*Tony hangs back*

Tony: "Hey, you okay? I know you didn't wanna talk about it tonight"

Y/N: "Yeah I'm okay, thanks for stepping in, I just didn't know what to say"

Tony: "No worries, that's what I'm here for. Although what I'm not here for is clearing up, so I'll leave you ladies to it!"

*You roll your eyes at Nat as Tony heads off upstairs*

Nat: "So what's really going on?"

"I saw the way you both looked at each other when Sam brought up Steve. What happened?"

Y/N: "He caught Tony and I, together, out on the balcony. He disappeared upstairs so I followed him and I found him packing a bag"

Nat: "And when you say 'together', you mean.."

Y/N: "Yes, Tony and I kissed"

Nat: "And Steve saw?"

Y/N: "Yep. So when I found him upstairs packing, it started a whole conversation about how he still has feelings for me and he can't be here and watch me be with Tony"

Nat: "So he left"

Y/N: "Yeah. He has actually gone on a mission with an old friend so technically we didn't lie about that"

"But I just couldn't bring myself to tell everyone the other reason"

Nat: "So how are you feeling?"

Y/N: "Weirdly okay. I was upset and confused at first but Tony came and spoke to me after. And, I guess it will be easier for me and Tony to be together without him here"

Nat: "And that's what you want?"

Y/N: "To be with Tony? Yeah"

"I mean, do I wish Steve could have stayed? Sure. But if he needed to go, then that's his choice and I can't hold that against him"

Nat: "As long as you're okay"

*You smile and nod*

Nat: "Well, that's the last of the bottles cleared up"

Y/N: "And I've just swept up all the glass from the broken table, no thanks to Pointbreak!"

Nat: "Haha alright, well I'm heading up, good night Y/N"

Y/N: "Night Nat"

*You head up after her and walk along the corridor to the bedrooms*
