Part 40 - You Get The Truth

*After a long day of training, you decide to sit down at the piano and have a play*

Y/N: *singing* "Cos' there is no guarantee"

Steve: "Is that Y/N?"

Vision: "I believe so"

Y/N: *singing* "That this life is easy"

Bucky: "Yep that's her"

Thor: "Tremors can sing!"

Y/N: *singing* "Yeah when my world in falling apart"

*Tony sees you and walks over*

Y/N: *singing* "When there's no light to break up the dark"

Nat: "She's got his attention!"

*Everyone just stands and watch you sing and play*

Y/N: *singing* "That's when I, I-I, I look at you*

*You look at Tony and smile, he smiles back*

*Steve looks at you and Tony, he looks upset and walks out*

*You stop playing when you see Steve leave*

*Bucky walks out after him*

*Everyone else looks confused*

*You get up too and go after them*

Bucky: "Look, I know it's hard but-""

Y/N: "Steve.."

Bucky: "You shouldn't be here Y/N"

Y/N: "No actually I think I should"

*You look at Steve*

Y/N: "I know why you left just now"

*Steve turns round*

Steve: "I don't think you do"

Y/N: "I overheard you and Bucky talking the other night"

Steve: "What.."

Y/N: "After I went up to bed, I realised I forgot my phone, so when I came back down to get it, I heard you and Bucky talking"

*Steve and Bucky look at each other when they realise what you're saying*

Bucky: "Ok, I'll leave you two to talk..again"

*He leaves*

Steve: "So.."

Y/N: "Why did you lie to me?"

*He doesn't say anything*

Y/N: "Steve!"

Steve: "Because how could I tell you the truth! How could I even begin to tell you that I'm still in love with you. That for almost 4 months, all I did was think about you everyday. How much I missed you. How much I wanted to be with you. Holding you...kissing you.."

Y/N: "Steve.."

Steve: "No I know, because you're with Tony. I just thought it would be easier to lie, for everyone's sake. Pretend that I'm okay with you being with him, that I'm okay with watching you fall in love with someone else everyday. Because if lying meant I could stay in your life, even somehow, then I would do it in a heartbeat"

Y/N: "But what about you"

Steve: "What about me?"

Y/N: "You said it was easier to lie for everyone else's sake, but what about yours? You're pretending you're okay when you're quite clearly not"

"I can't stay here and watch you fall apart, especially if it's because of me"

"I think I should leave"

Steve: "What?"

Y/N: "Just for a while. Not forever"

"Tony and I will go up to his cabin. We'll get out your face for a bit. It's not fair that you had to leave the first time because of us."

"And hey, it'll be a nice break anyway. God knows I need it"

Steve: "Ok"

"Not that I have any right to ask, but can you not to tell Tony, about all this?"

Y/N: "I don't know Steve"

Steve: "Y/N he'll kill me if he finds out"

Y/N: "And he'll be 10x worse if he finds out a different way. At least if I tell him, I can cushion the blow. I'm not saying he won't be angry at you but I can at least convince him not to kill you"

Steve: "Okay.."
