I'm sitting in Tenzin's office yet again this morning as I talk with my mother. I have explained everything that I know about the tensions in the south and not surprisingly, she didn't know the extent of the issue.
"I cannot believe Unalaq has been quiet about the whole thing. If I had known what he was truly planning I would have never put you in that position." My mother sighs through the speaker. It's nice to talk to her without feeling scared, it's just like it used to be before she announced me as the next Fire Lord.
"It's okay, mother. Though, Avatar Korra had wanted me to ask for the Fire Nation troops. I said no, but if Iroh cannot help her, she might go straight to you." I say to prepare her for Korra. As much as I love Korra, she doesn't react well to hearing the word no.
"She can come if she'd like, but I will be giving her the same answer you gave her." She replies.
"I will speak with her again and hopefully she will think of something else." I say.
"If she is as stubborn as you say, I doubt she will accept your word." My mother chuckles softly and I laugh as well.
"You are probably right. Maybe I should just stay out of it." I say.
"I know you would rather be involved, but you are right to not involve yourself with the conflict. You have been right this entire time and I have been too caught up in things that do not really matter to see it." She says and I can tell by the tone of her voice that she is disappointed in herself.
"Mother, it is okay. The right thing has been done, that is all that matters." I say hoping that my words can cheer her up.
"You are going to make a fine Fire Lord, Ulazu." She says and I feel a smile on my lips. I don't want to be Fire Lord, but it is nice to hear. "I must go, but keep me informed if things get worse." She says.
"Of course, we will speak soon." I say. I put the microphone down and sigh happily. That is the best conversation I have had with my mother for years. Maybe things are going to be different between us now, maybe I have finally earned her trust.
I stand up and make my way out of the office. Bolin had invited me to watch him whilst they filmed for the mover Varrick wants to make. I am curious to see how it all works, and it's something to distract me from the conflicts, so I agreed.
I quickly go to my room to grab my bag before walking out into the courtyard, making a quick detour to the stables. I walk over to Lulu who licks me as I reach her. I laugh and put some food down before stroking her fur.
"I'll be back after my match tonight, Lulu." I say to her. She starts eating the food happily and I turn and head towards the ferry so that I can meet up with Bo.
It isn't long before I arrive at the studio and I walk in hoping that I am actually in the right place. Straight away I see a lot of people running around with equipment and I watch them curiously. I don't even know what most of the things they're holding are. It's all just so amazing.
"Ula, you came!" I hear Bolin's voice behind me. I turn around and feel my eyes widen as I see him walk towards me wearing only shorts and a vest jacket. I stare at his extremely defined chest as he gets closer. I knew that he was fit from pro bending, but geez, is he nice to look at.
He stops in front of me and I force my eyes away from his abs feeling a blush hit my face. He smiles down at me and he chuckles slightly as he rubs the back of his neck.
"It's not very Water Tribe, is it?" He says softly.
"Not really, but you look hot." I say. My eyes widen as his face grows red. "I mean, great, you-umm, you look good." I stammer. Oh, Sprits, why did I just say that?
