Reina turned around and put her hood down to meet Sasuke's eyes.
She noticed that he had awakened the EMS meaning he went through the surgical procedure using Itachi's eyes.
He kept them activated clearly being cautious around Reina.
"It really is you." He mumbled remembering seeing her only a few times before.
"You've grown a lot since the chunin exams." Noted Reina.
She took part in the chunin exams all up until the forest of death section where both her and her team disappeared during the middle of it.
Sasuke and Reina didn't interact a lot throughout their first encounter in the hidden leaf. Mostly because of Sasuke's hostility towards anyone that approached him.
"... You never told me who you were back then." Voiced Sasuke remembering that Reina did approach him but with a completely different name not to mention her hair was an all over black.
She registered in the chunin exams with a false identity, but there was an explanation to that.
"I tried on many occasions, but you always showed me no interest in knowing who I was..." She said, surprised that he didn't remember.
The memories of every single one of her attempts flooded his mind.
The first time was when they sat down to take the written exam and she was assigned to sit next to him. That time she introduced herself with a false name and was quickly shut down by Sasuke.
After that she approached him again outside the building after being told that they passed. At that point she planned on telling him who she truly was, but Sasuke didn't care to listen.
The third time was when her team was out looking around the village and she saw him enjoying ramen with his own team. She saw him just as he and his team finished their meal. Getting close she waved at him and was about to speak when he just walked right by her commenting for her to get lost.
The last attempt was when they waited outside the forest of death. That time Sakura was alone with Sasuke, and she made sure to give Reina a clear understanding to stop approaching Sasuke.
He wasn't exactly proud of the way he behaved towards her, but he did wonder how things would have been had things been handled differently.
Both of their lives went south since the chunin exams happened...
Reina's team was killed on the way home, and when she returned home to ask for help, she couldn't even do that... The new home she was welcomed to with open arms had also been destroyed.
Sasuke encountered his brother soon after the exams only to be put under a genjutsu that caused him to be hospitalized for many days.
Realizing how weak he truly was lead to him leaving the village and going to Orochimaru to gain the power he would need to kill Itachi. However, even that was done wrong.
Sasuke ended up regretting taking his brothers life and has lived with the guilt of it ever since.
"Right..." sighed Sasuke.
"Don't beat yourself up about it, I knew what to expect when meeting you." She voiced. "He talked about you and Itachi a lot when he visited me..."
There was a moment of silence upon the mention of the people they once cared about the most.
Itachi to Sasuke and...
"Shisui..."
Reina nodded and just by her eyes, Sasuke knew that his death still affects her greatly adding onto the mystery of why she's part of an organization even more sinister than the Akatsuki.
