Not a single building could be made out in this mess.
The fight that took place moments prior completely destroyed everything leaving it unrecognizable to anyone that might have known it...
One of the two people that were present looked down at the only other individual here. Their weak body covered in their own blood was upsetting to look at.
"Reina... don't." He voiced weakly knowing why this person was here in the first place.
He was hardly strong enough to say those two words meaning there was nothing he could do to prevent what would happen next, so she proceeded to crouch down to his level and placed her hand on his shoulder which made his body slowly convert to dust and after a few seconds he was completely gone.
"I'm sorry..." She apologized as she stood up.
There was someone applauding in the distance that caught her attention. Looking in their direction she saw a masked man, someone she had seen twice before. The most current encounter being a few months ago.
"It's you." She sighed clearly not looking forward to the conversation that would take place.
She knew what he was here for. He has been tracking her for quite some time. Reina knew that she would likely bump into him if she came here...
"I know you have two of your pals hiding near by. All I want to do is talk to you, so If you don't mind do tell them to relax for a bit." He told her, but she didn't abide to his request.
She was a cautious person, taking risks only when absolutely necessary.
"It's like that is it... Well, first I'll ask you for the last time if you'd like to join the Akatsuki, there's a seat always available specifically for you." He began.
"I have no desire to join you. Someone whom steals the identity of another is more untrustworthy than someone who conceals their own face, and you are doing both." Was her response.
It made the masked man laugh. With the position she has, it's no surprise she knew about his little secret.
"That's quite insulting. I'm very trustworthy, many of the members could tell you that."
"There aren't many of you left, and even if there were I would still have no interest in your offer." She repeated as she began to walk in the opposite direction he was in.
The masked man on the other hand was not taking a no for an answer. He threw a kunai directly to the back of her head, but it was deflected by an arrow which came from his left.
Once again he was amused. Reina and her group were very well organized and extraordinarily trained. It made him wonder more about the organization Reina is a part of. He has some information on them, but not as much as he would like, having her on his side would give him access to a great amount of intel.
"There will be war. Perhaps not between me and your organization, but surely one between me and the five great nations. You and Sasuke on my side guarantees the success of this war. Join me and I will make sure that this mission you hope to finish is complete by the start of the war." He tried to convince her.
She was bitterly amused by his words and turned around to face him.
"You just threw a kunai at me and failed. You have failed at destroying the leaf, at being a good leader to an organization you stole, and are currently failing at keeping your identity a secret. Failure is not on my to-do-list, especially not being killed by a hidden leaf ninja in the middle of a mission." She said, pointing out that every Akatsuki member except for one or two have been killed after battling someone that is or was affiliated with the hidden leaf village.
He knew it wasn't going to be easy to convince her, but at least she was willing to listen. Sure what she's saying is offensive, but he had to keep it in for now.
"Listen Reina, with what I plan on doing. You could see your biological parents for the first time not to mention everyone else you wish to see. It's like a dream come true. A life where you can get away from the cruelty that comes with the shinobi world."
She shook her head no.
"I don't want any part of it. As for Sasuke, I don't know him very well, but surely he will choose differently. As of now my mission here is complete and I must go on my way." She said and once again turned around to walk away.
"Why is that? You don't want them to see what you've been up to? The people you've killed, the homes you've destroyed? Are you ashamed to face them?" He provoked.
None of it worked on her, she didn't stop walking away but she did respond.
"I can, can you?"
His eyes narrowed at her comment.
"Then why wouldn't you want to see them?" He questioned thinking she was only bluffing to strike a nerve in him.
"Life isn't meant to be a fantasy. My family is gone and that's the truth, your dream plan won't change that fact."
The masked man was no longer amused. Reina wasn't convinced at all. She knew what her decision was and there was no way to make her rethink that choice.
"Regardless, you'll end up appearing in the war. Remember that I have one of the crystals you search for." Now he thought he was getting the upper hand by saying this.
However, Reina didn't stop her pace.
"Whether I do appear on that battle field or not, my agenda will not be to help you win it. You, the five great nations, and I are all on different sides. Only one will be left standing and trust me, it certainly won't be you." She said and disappeared from his sight.
The masked man clenched his fists as he looked down at the ground where she was last standing on.
"If I won't be the last one standing, then I'll make sure that neither will you."
