You'll pay for it

Three days. Three long, torturous days. Sirius executes revenge on Remus with a precision that borders on sadism. For three days, he makes sure to book for him alone, the most aggressive looks from him, he makes sure that they spend the greatest possible time together and, of course, very much care is taken to have a conversation with him or touch him the least. For three days he is right there, on the other side of the world. So close that he can brush against him, and be totally unattainable at the same time. He hardly speaks to him. When he does, he repeats that phrase. Those five stormy words. "You'll pay for it".

Remus has to hear it all the time, in the darkest moments. Unexpectedly. In Charms class, when he's trying to keep his desk six inches from the ground, his voice in his ear announces "You'll pay for it". The table shakes, falls and Remus has to start from the beginning. It's Sirius's way of putting up with it. In mid-afternoon, Sirius goes up to their room to get his workout clothes. Instead of getting ready in the Quidditch changing rooms, he changes clothes on the spot. Throws the sweater along with the shirt on the floor and although Remus remains glued to his book, trying to hide behind it, Sirius knows he is watching him out of the corner of his eye. He could smell it.

On Tuesday, in Potions class, they prepare veritaserum together. When peeking into the cauldron to check the doneness are just a few inches from each other, Sirius seems relentless when he promises face to face to him, "You'll pay for it".

Before going to bed, they all brush their teeth together in the bathroom. Sirius takes advantage of James bowing his head to move his lips silently pronouncing "You'll pay for it". He sends heat signals to the most remote points of Remus's body. From bunk bed, when everyone else falls asleep, Sirius warns in the dark "You'll pay for it" and they both know that he always carries out his threats.

At night, instead of closing the blissful curtains on his bed, Sirius leaves them open. And he stays awake all night. Watching, lurking. Remus doesn't even have a chance to reach inside the underpants and unload to relieve some tension. Impossible, with Sirius awake and watching him.

Three days in a row. He makes Remus build up more stress than a freight train loaded with dynamite. If he hears "You'll pay for it" one more time he knows that he will succumb and fall to the ground on his knees because it is too much torture. With Sirius "You'll pay for it" sounds like punishment and ecstasy. The threat from him is the promise of unforgettable torture. Three days of "You'll pay for it" and Remus doesn't even know what he wants. Whatever it is, he wants it now.

On Thursday, James and Peter finish their breakfast earlier and they run off to finish their Ancient Runes homework. Sirius rises from the table behind them. He bends down, puts his lips on Remus' ear, brushes him too gently.

- You are going to pay me in so many different ways that when we finish, you won't know where you start and where you end, Lupin.

Yes, please.

The real punishment is waiting.
