Chapter 36

Ashley's POV

I opened my dresser and looked for something to wear. I didn't really know what to look for so I just found a t shirt and jeans.

I walked into the bathroom and took my hair out of the messy bun I had made before Cameron had showed up. My long brown hair looked straight, like it always has been. I decided to just leave it the way it looked. I put a little bit of make up on and walked downstairs.

Cameron was entertaining Skylnn. Nash and Hayes had just gotten back from a meet up event and Sky had gone out with my mom earlier.

I sat down on the floor next to Cameron. He tickled Sky and made her laugh by making silly faces. Jaxx rested his head on my leg as I petted him. Nash walked downstairs.

"I'm going with you guys by the way." He said. Cameron nodded his head. Cameron's phone buzzed and he checked it.

"My dad is here now." He said standing up and then helping me up. After my mom and Sky hugged the 3 of us we left. But then I noticed something.

Nash was carrying the bag with Cameron's breathing tank.

Cameron wasn't wearing it.

I thought he'd put it back on before we left, but he didn't. I was a little worried.

I ran up to him and grabbed his hand. He looked at me and smiled. I smiled a little.

"Why aren't you wearing your mask?" I asked.

"Because I'm trying to not use it a lot like the doctor said. I'll be fine, don't worry Ash." He said and kissed my cheek.

"Alright." I said. He opened the car door for me. I got in the backseat, Cameron beside me, and Nash sitting up front. We all talked a lot. Especially Cameron and his dad. I guess Cameron forgave him and decided to give him another chance.

I smiled.

When we got to the mall, I started to walk upstairs to the store where I usually buy dresses. But no one followed. I turned around and looked at Cameron. He looked at me and smiled.

"We're going to shop for the guys first. I know we're breaking the 'ladies first' rule, sorry." Cameron's Dad said. I laughed a little.

"Eh, it's fine." I said and stood beside Cameron. We held hands as we walked.

I got to help Cameron pick out his suit. I found a grey suit, cameron and I both liked it.

After he tried it on we bought the suit and walked out of the store.

We met up with Nash's girlfriend, Natalie, she was going to help me pick out my dress. She had also helped Nash pick out his suit too.

We walked into the store and I looked back for Cameron. He sat on one of the seats messing with the tube of his breathing machine. I sat next to him.

"You ok?" I asked. He was quiet for a minute but then shook his head.

"What's wrong?" I asked. I put my hand on his. He looked at me.

"I don't want to wear my mask right now because I don't want to embarrass you..." He said.

"Embarrass? Cam-"

"There's other girls in this store. One preferably Ally and her friends. I don't want to draw attention. I don't want to hear her fake sympathy shit. I don't want you to be hurt by what she says because of me." He said.

I looked around the store. He was right. Ally and her friends were here. I looked back at him.

"Cam. I don't want her fake sympathy shit either okay? But I'm not embarrassed just because of your breathing mask. It's helping you get rid of what's left of that fire smoke. Keeping you alive. Just put it on okay? I don't care how stupid you might think you look, but it's the only thing that's helping you not pass out okay?" I said. He smiled and put his hand on my cheek.

"Alright." He said and kissed me. Nash came over and set up his tank so I could go look around. I found Natalie and looked around with her. Ally was close near by.

"Hey how about this one, Ash?" Natalie said pointing at a grey sparkly dress. I smiled.

"Beautiful." I said. She smiled.

"Wanna try it on?" She asked. I nodded my head and she found the dress in my size.

I took the dress back to the dressing room but I was stopped by Ally.

"Hey what are you doing here?" She asked.

"Shopping. What's it look like?" I said.

"If you don't mind me asking, why for a dress huh?" She asked.

"For um, Cameron's movie premiere.." I said. She looked surprised.

"Whoa wait. You're in a movie?" She asked.

"Yeah.." I said. She laughed.

"Who let your face be in a movie huh? I bet you're terrible at acting, bet the movie is nothing but a pile of shit." She said. I clenched a fist.

"Just leave me alone, okay?" I said.

"You're trying on that dress? That doesn't really suit you. Here hang on." She said. She walked away and came back with some ugly dress.

"This suits you well. Ugly, not stylish, and plain dumb all together." She said. I hit the hanger and it fell onto the ground carrying the dress with it.

"Who picked out that dress anyway?" She asked. I was about to say something when Natalie showed up.

"I did." She said with her arms crossed. Ally was surprised.

"Natalie! You're friends with her?!" Ally said. Natalie looked at me and smiled, I smiled a little back.

"Best friends Ally, best friends." Natalie said. I smiled. But then Ally punched me in the cheek.

I saw Cameron and Nash running towards us. Ally then pushed me to a mirror. My head hit the mirror and the mirror cracked. There was a cut at the side of my face. It wasn't that bad but it was bleeding.

Nash was yelling at Ally. Natalie trying to calm him down. Cameron's dad holding him back. Ally just stood there. And a worker tried to find out what was going on.

Shouting was all I heard but then I heard someone saying my name. My vision was a little blurry but I knew it was Cameron. His eyes filled with worry. His hands against my cheeks.

"Ashley." He said. I blinked.

"Ashley baby, are you okay?" He asked. I heard someone laugh. Ally. I could hear. But my vision was still a little bit blurry.

"Your boyfriend's gotta mask on! What is he trying to be, Augustus Waters?" She said and laughed. One of her friends also laughed.

"Guess he's gonna die isn't he? Sorry for the loss your gonna lose sweetheart." She said. I clenched a fist. Cameron held my hand and looked in my eyes. He closed his and then opened them.

Ally kicked my side but it barely hurt because Cameron blocked it with his arm.

But suddenly, everything went black.

I was laying on my side on the floor.

Cameron rushed and laid in front of me. He put his hands on my cheek. His eyes a bit watery with worry.

"Ashley?!" He said.

Friday is national pie day and we get to bring pie to school and eat it 😄🍰
