Tobys POV:
Connor leaves with the door cracked open and I just lay on the middle of my bed and stare at the ceiling. I can't believe all of that came out of me. Usually I wouldn't be so open to anyone, but somehow I was able to be. I realize now that it wasn't my mind speaking for me, it was my heart.
I close my eyes and try to calm my mind down. Its weird knowing that Connor knows everything now, and Riley will soon too once Connor gets to him. Well Riley won't know everything, just the main things. I know Connor wouldn't spill everything, he always knows what to say and how much of it. But then there's my mom. How much of my story will she need to know in order to let us leave again? There's no way she won't put up a fight, but Connor is usually the one who can negotiate with her the best.
Suddenly I feel the bed beside me move and I open my eyes to Sam laying down beside me putting her head on my shoulder.
"Hey." I whisper and I pull her closer to me.
"Hey." The silence fills the room and after awhile I can't take it anymore.
"Sam, th-"
"They know." She says cutting me off. "I got that much after this morning."
"They tied me down last night. I swear, you can ask them." I say.
"Toby, I'm not mad that you told them, if that's what your worried about." She says. "If anything it lifts a weight off of my shoulder."
"I didn't tell them everything you know." Wait just kidding, I did about five minutes ago... Well they don't know she's my girlfriend...
"But I did tell Connor that I think we should make a trip to Chicago."
"Really?" She asks lifting her head and facing me.
"Yeah he's gonna talk to my mom about it. But I don't know how willing she's gonna be to just let us leave in all this chaos outside."
I see her face drop a little. "But I don't care what she says. We're going." I say. I tuck a strand of hair behind her ear and look her in the eyes. She leans toward me and kisses my cheek gently, then places her head in the crook of my neck.
"When is all of this going to end?" She asks.
"Well when I go downstairs to eat..." She sits up and lays on her stomach proped up on her elbows and says with a smile, "I wasn't talking about your stomach."
"I know. But its the only thing I'm sure of." I say and give her a smile. "Come on." I sit up. "Let's just forget about everything for now. Connor will figure it out."
"Okay. So um... Does this mean I'll be sleeping alone at night from now on?" She asks sitting beside me on the edge of the bed.
"No, I'll just have to do a better job of it. My mom would kill me." I say laughing.
"My mom would kill me twice. But not before my sister."
"You have a sister?"
"Yeah, and a brother, but he's away at college. Maybe you'll meet Rhian if we go to Chicago."
"When."
"What?"
"When we go to Chicago. You said if. Were going." I stand up and say, "but not before we get food. I'm starving!"
"Oh my god." She stands up and gives me a shove. "Your always hungry. I don't know how anyone lives with you."
"You do." I say giving her a wink. She sticks her tounge out and crosses her arms. I smile and say, "I'll be down in a minute. I gotta get dressed." Then I kiss her forehead and go into the bathroom.
