When I pull into the parking lot, I take a solid five minutes trying to park before receiving this text from Gary:
Hey, it turns out there's an orientation tonight for incoming singers to our program and all of the rooms will be used... Which means we can't chat here. Were going to have to do it at your house. I hope that's okay cause I'm on my way now ;)
Honestly, I don't know what to think of Gary these days. He's like a teenage boy stuck in a grown mans body. Ever since he learned that his wife is expecting again he's been all... Well... Weird.
I turn my car around and head back home. Its 5:57 right now and I wouldn't be on time even if I flew. I hope being late doesn't make a bad impression on me...
When I pull into my driveway, my parking space is taken up by Gary so I'm forced to park on the street so my mom can pull into the garage. I can't tell you how many times he's done this. He's gonna have to face me when I get inside.
After opening the front door, I see Gary sitting on the living room couch in front of the coffee table where his laptop is open. "Gary, can you not park your car where mines supposed to go? Now I have to move it when you leave." I complain.
"Yeah yeah never mind. I've got the guys right here," waving to his laptop "and your worried about mis-parked cars... Again."
"And somehow it always ends up being yours." Gary and I always fuss over the stupidest things. That's why I like him so much.
I take my jacket off and set it with my bag on the kitchen counter. Before I walk in front of the laptop, I do a quick roll over of how I look. I never wear make up, I really hate it actually, so I assume what's going on up there is fine. After fixing my clothes I walk into the living room and take a seat next to Gary. I'm really nervous but I try to act casually.
The first thing I notice when I look at the screen is that Gary and the guys have already been video chatting for almost ten minutes, so they got my beautiful introduction which only included my complaints of where Gary parked. Oh god that's embarrassing...
When I take a look at the actual camera displaying the guys, I see the same smiley and cheery people I watched on YouTube about 30 minutes ago. I find this really awkward...
"Wait, Gary isn't this my laptop?" I ask running my fingers over the keyboard.
"Yeah hope you don't mind. Mines being stupid."
"No not at all... Just how did you get in? It has a password..." I say giving him a suspicious look.
"Oh, I got it on my first guess! Samsings2. (A\N: sorry if this is a real password...it probably is but I just made it up) You should really change that..." He says casually. I give him the "what the heck look" and he asks, "what??"
That's when I hear the guys who changed my life forever laugh for the first time in real life. Laughing at us. At ME. And in a good way too.
I decide to concentrate on what I really came here for and say, "Hey guys! It's nice to finally talk to you! And thank you so much for choosing me! It means so much you have no idea!"
