Connor's POV:

I hate to see it, but Sam's the one who has to go. She's the fastest and she knows what she's doing.

As Andrew tells her what all she needs to get, Toby and I play around with the door. Since we've been down here so long, the water from the rain and snow has built up on top of it. So now were pushing against the door and slowly opening it as we go.

We get it open just in time for her to be ready. "Okay, remember everything?" Andrew asks her.

"Yeah, I got it." I can tell she's nervous. I am too and I'm not even the one leaving. She walks to the door hatch and I let Toby go on front of me. From behind him, I see him kiss her cheek from the side, whisper something, and then smile sadly. Then he gives her a boost up so she is now on the outside.

"OH MY GOD..." she says. Then its quiet.

"What!"

"Sam!"

"Are you okay!"

We all throw ourselves at her, scared to death of what's happening.

"Its soaking wet up here...." She finally says. She looks down and smiles. "That's what you get for sending me of all people. Sarcasm. Its my only defense."

We all sigh and roll our eyes. But I can't help to be relieved and angry at the same time. I mean what if something did happen...

"Okay, I'm going. Give me five minutes and if I'm not back... I don't know. Do what you want." Sam says and then leaves. She gives me chills by saying that... Now we have five minutes to wonder what her fate is. What our fate is.

***

She's quicker than you think. Before I'm even done counting to three and a half she's back. And thank god.

She knocks on the door that we closed behind her and when Toby, who's been standing there the whole time, opens it, we see her in the sunlight above her.

"Let me in..." She pants. Toby wraps an arm around her and helps her down. Once she's back in and safe, she collapses into his arms and breaths heavily from running. "That... Was so... Scary..." She pants into Toby's chest.

"Did you get everything? You were so quick..." Andrew says. I can tell he's a little awkward around her and toby being together. I doubt he even knows...

"Yeah," she steps back from Toby and reaches behind her, pulling a small hand gun from her waist. Then from her pocket she retrieves several single bullets, a box of matches and two batteries for the flashlight that went out earlier.

Rhian grabs the batteries and matches and Andrew grabs the gun and the bullets. He quickly loads them in and sets it on safety. Which is very weird to see. Not once have I ever thought of him as a gun person.

Then I feel movement next to me and I look down to see lucy in my arms asleep. "Uh, guys..." They all look at me and I don't have to explain. Where's lucy going to be when were doing all of this?

We all know that we can't just leave her alone, even if its down here safe. So that means one of us has to stay.

"I'll stay." Rhian says. "You guys have experience or whatever. You've dealt with this before. I haven't. Sam your quick, you know what your doing. And Andrew you have to go cause no one else is going to touch that thing. You know how to use it." She says pointing to the gun in his hand.

"Okay," Andrew says and we all agree with him.

"You guys should get going then. It might get dark soon." She says. She walks over to me as I stand and hand her lucy, still sleeping innocently. She watches us as we get ready to leave and open the door. "When should I start getting worried that you aren't coming back?"

"I don't know. Its probably like six right now. Of we aren't back by tomorrow afternoon, stay in here and don't come out. You have food and everything you need. Just stay here until we come back, okay?" Andrew says. She nods her head even though she's fighting back tears.

"Be careful." Then we go one by one out of the hatch and step out into the open. The first thing I notice is that its warmed up quite a bit, but its still cold. Also with all of the rain, the inches of snow here before is pretty much gone. Now puddles of water and mud cover the grass.

We begin our walk down the hills and through the empty street, jumping at every noise and taking nothing for what it seems to be. Andrews in the lead, I'm behind him and behind me are Sam and Toby, probably holding hands in secracy again. They're terrible at hiding that... Why do they hide it in the first place...

We walk for a good five minutes in silence, listening to everything around us. Once we reach the driveway of Mr. Smith, andrew stops and wait for us.

"Did you see that?" He asks us. We all shake our heads. "When I first walked up here, the blinds in the room down there," he says pointing to a room in the basement." They closed. But we weren't supposed to see that so were gonna pretend like we didn't. Here's the plan..."

Andrew talks to us quickly while we make our way up the driveway and to the front door, trying to act casual. Overall, were here for more information and we brought sam along instead if Riley because he's sick and confused on this whole topic anyway.

Andrews supposed to do most of the talking but we have to act casual which means we have to talk too. Which probably won't go well for me. I'll probably end up asking him where hes keeping Riley and Grace.

But we do know that if they are here, they're in the basement, in the room where the blinds shut as soon as we got here...
