Riley's POV:
After the meet and greet ends, chaos begins. No one has any idea what's going on. I just hear one loud boom followed by never ending gun shots. To yell, "Get down now!" Is my first instinct while Connor yells for the driver to leave.
Connor and I are already on the floor covering our heads when I hear a scream. I immediately know its from Sam. Toby gets up and runs toward her despite what I told everyone. I can barely hear anything over the gun shots but I hear him start talking to her, urging her to stay awake and to not close her eyes.
I would know that line anywhere. I've seen plenty of movies with victims of gun wounds, with their loved ones begging them to stay. That when I snap out of my position I'm in and go help Toby.
I crawl on my knees over to them with Connor following close behind me. I don't know where she got hit but her blood is all over her hands and now Toby's, who is holding her head trying to get her awake. My first thought is she's dead but when I see blood pouring out of the back of her leg, I doubt she is. I mean she could from blood loss...
I quickly take my jacket off and wrap it around her leg trying to stop the blood flow. While I do this, Connor is trying to snap Toby out of his state. He's freaking out, almost to the point of crying, begging her to come back. After many unsuccessful tries of calm reassurance, Connor yells,"Toby! She not gonna die! She will be fine!"
"Well what do we do! We don't have a doctor!" He yells back.
"IM going to take make sure she's fine because I know what to do. You need to calm down before anything else happens. Shes going to be fine Toby." Connor reassures him calmly once more.
We wait until the bus is far away from the venue and until we can't hear any more gun shots before I say,"let's get her to the back, there's more room."
Connor carries her while I hold the jacket around her leg. Toby follows on our heels. "Toby go get the first aid kit from in the bathroom." Connor instructs. He does what he's told and is back with in seconds.
Connor lays her on the couch and I remove the blood stained jacket. The flow has slowed but there's still too much blood. I roll her pants up just below her knee so we can work easier. By now my hands are stained red with blood but its not like I care about it now.
"Okay go get a bunch of towels and water." Connor says. I can tell he's worried about what he's going to do. I mean its not like he's removed a bullet from anyone's leg before...
Toby returns and at that, we begin. The whole time we are all waiting for Sam to wake up screaming from the pain, but she doesn't. And she doesn't when were done either. Nor when we leave or clean up or try and get signal on our phones or when we find an old radio under the sink for news. She doesn't wake up, but she's still breathing.
While we wait, we listen to the static filled radio for any news on what happened. Since our phones don't have service, we can't do anything. We don't dare stop in another city, town, or even a stop sign or red light. We just keep going and hide away in the country sides of the unknown. The radio keeps coming in and out, and when we do get service, it just repeats itself over and over on every channel. Things about bombings in hundreds of cities across the country, staying inside and isolated, and be prepared and to stay tuned.
At this point Toby has literally gone spiraling into depression. He won't leave Sam's side and he won't listen to anything Connor and I say. Well he does, he just doesn't acknowledge it or respond back.
Its about eleven when were still driving to no where in particular. Were still waiting for Sam, and Toby is still at her side. I don't want him to become sick, even in his mind, so I beg for him to go to bed and promise him that I won't leave her. After what seems like hours he finally gives in, his mind beat.
I don't know why he won't leave her. I guess all that kidding around Connor and I did to get them "together" wasn't a joke. It was real. You can tell by the way he looks at her that he really cares, more than just a friend does. I just hope, mainly for his sake, she will be alright.
About an hour after I take over watch, she finally wakes. But not calmly, she screams and is shaking violently, scared out of her mind. I calm her best I can and go get Toby, knowing that he will want to see her. When I come back, Toby engulfs Sam in a hug and they don't let go of eachother. Sam is crying uncontrollably and Toby is still in shock.
Connor comes up behind me where I am standing by the doorway and whispers,"Is she okay?" "I think so... Just a little freaked as you can tell. I think she will be fine now. With... Well Toby." "Yeah." Connor chuckles a little, the most he has all evening and says, "well I think we can leave them. Toby's got this."
He leaves and I follow, leaving Toby and Sam to calm each other down.

Sam's POV:
I guess I do end up falling asleep because I wake up and I'm alone. They left me. HE left me..
I try to curl into a ball to comfort myself but the pain in my leg prevents me from doing so. So instead I just lay there on my side and stare at the door waiting.
I wait and wait and wait. But they never come back.
***
I scream and wake up, immediately feeling the arms around me tighten. I grab onto them and whisper,"Don't go. Please don't go." I run the same thing in my mind over and over. He didn't leave me. He never would... would he?
"Its okay, I'm here. Like I promised." Toby whispers into my ear. He's sitting up straight with his feet up on a chair while I'm laying across his lap with my head on his chest. Its lighter out now, probably around 6 or 7 in the morning.
"You okay?" He asks.
I shrug my shoulders because I don't trust my voice. Also because I'm really not sure if I am or not. I feel better than I was last night and I'm with Toby now, but my leg is in excruciating pain.
I try to move it but I only manage a few inches before I have to stop. Toby sees my attempts. "Let me see." He says. He moves the blanket that was over my legs and rolls my pant leg up, exposing white wrap around my shin. No wonder...
I gasp not ready for what I see. "Its okay. Connor cleaned you up. You just need to rest for awhile until you can walk again." Toby looks at me in the eyes and gives me a sad smile. He looks like he hasn't slept in days.
"Did you sleep at all?" I whisper. I put my hand on his forehead to see if he's alright. He looks pretty pale and he has bags under his brown eyes.
"No I stayed up for you, like I promised. Remember?" I take my hand away softly add rest my head back on his chest smiling. "Get some rest Toby." I say before falling back to sleep.
