"Sammy!" Gary shouts as I walk into the studio. "Come here! I want you to meet someone!"
I do as I'm told and when I find Gary, I see my mom and a tall athletic looking blonde who could only be Grace, my best friend from volleyball. I haven't seen much of her since I quit, but I'm hoping we never stop being friends.
I run up to Grace and hug her as she hugs me back. "How you doing Sam? I miss you so much on the court!"
"Oh my god I'm doing great! How are you? And the team? Oh my god I can't believe your here!" I scream as I hug her again.
"I'm fine and so is the team. In fact were going to conference next week! I just wish you were with us still! But as I can see your doing so well in the music business I wouldn't dare let you leave it!!" She laughs.
"Yes she is," my mom interrupts. "And as happy as you are your going to have to leave for a few minutes with Gary to go meet someone. Someone very important." My mom smiles and pushes me back to Gary.
As I'm walking to Gary's office with him, I'm wondering why my mom was so excited. She's always been excited when it comes to me exceeding in volleyball and in music but this time it seems different. It seems like something more important.
When I open the door to his office, I see an older man with gray hair sitting on the opposite side of the desk. He looks friendly enough so I smile and walk into the room with Gary right behind me.
"Take a seat Sam," Gary says. "This is Tom Anderson. He is in charge of the Fight to Tour Contest and I invited him here to meet you and possibly get some ideas for attracting attention to your video portfolio."
Tom holds out his and smiles. "Hello! Its nice to finally meet you! I've heard so many great things about you and can't wait to work with you."
I shake his hand back and take a seat. I can't believe he is here to meet ME. I'm new in the business and he has already heard about me? I guess he's supposed to say that to everyone he meets...
"Sam?" Gary says breaking me out of my spell.
"Oh. What? Sorry." I say.
"Tom just wants to know a little about what you want to do with your career so he can send your video to the right band. Things like who you want to tour with and all that."
"Oh. Well I haven't really got into deep thoughts of how far I want to go with my career, but I definetly want to succeed. As for who I want to tour with, I'm not sure yet. I think me and Gary both agree that I shouldn't be picky about who I'm with just because I'm new to the field and don't have that much experience. What do you think?"
"Well I think your right. I know for a fact that the bands that are available aren't looking for picky people but people who want to succeed, like you said. I think the most important part for you to work on is your introduction and explaining that you just want to succeed in singing. Also its important to have more live singing included in your video than recorded seeing that you will mainly be singing live and in front of a crowd. But you should include recordings as well," Tom explains.
I think Tom saw my face when he said "live and in front of a crowd" because he just chuckles and says, "I'm sure you will be fine."
And the thing that hit me hardest was the fact that this man actually has hope in me succeeding. He said I WILL be fine, implying that I will be a winner in this contest. I just hope he's right...

After about an hour of planning and discussing with Gary and Tom, I was released to go film my intro video. With all if the plans swirling inside my head for this video, I was confident about making one that was powerful enough to beat thousands of others. I made a mental checklist and checked off everything I needed to say as I talked.
When I said my goodbyes, Grace shut the camera off and said, "You'll do great I promise. That was an entertaining and fun video that no one can resist," she says with confidence. I just laugh and say, "I hope so."
"Hey when your done here do you want to head over to Starbucks and grab something before dinner?" Grace asks. I swear this girl is hungry all day everyday. She never stops. I can't believe how fit she is...
"Yeah sure. But let me check in on Gary first."

I get the okay and we take my car over to Starbucks. We order and grab our drinks and head over to the table we usually sit at. Yes. We come here so often we have our own table.
We just sit and catch up on what has been going on for the past two weeks. Before long, it begins to snow peacefully and I soon get a text from mom telling me that dinner will be ready soon and I should get home before I get buried in snow. I drop Grace off and head on home.
