Chapter One: The "Link Cycle"

'Aurora was sat in the beach house on the couch, holding a rather large pillow against her face as she screamed into it, her voice glitching heavily as she did so'

'Bismuth was sat with Peridot across from her. Peridot looked incredibly concerned while Bismuth simply had a clearly amused grin on her face, trying to hold back her laughter'

"I CANT BELIEVE I DID THAT!" 'Aurora cried out in embarrassment as she lowered the pillow, a very bright purple blush having formed across her face. Her hair had also practically lit up in it's entirety in the same glow'

"I did not expect you of all people to be so rash" 'Peridot admitted in an honest tone, a mildly impressed expression crossing her face

'Aurora let out a string of high pitched beeps and whirring noises as she placed her head in her hands'

"Why do I have to be such a freak...." 'Aurora asked aloud, her voice being muffled by her hands, causing Bismuth to finally break as she stood up, walking over to the currently panicking Metamorin in front of her'

"Girl you are not a freak. It's completely normal for your people to be like this!" 'Bismuth said reassuringly as she sat down next to the much larger woman'

"Bismuth is correct. From what I have learned during my research about the Metamorin people is that compared to humans they have much more in depth driving forces behind their actions. including the desire to reproduce" 'Peridot stated as factual as ever, doing her best to reassure Aurora'

'In response Aurora simply let out a few more beeps, her eyes turning a dull pink color as they glitched, shaking her head afterwards as she felt her reactor start to spin faster once again'

"THATS NOT THE POINT!" 'Aurora exclaimed in a still flustered tone, only serving to further amuse Bismuth'

"He was telling me about things he hadn't before! He was opening up to me about things that had been bothering him for years! That WAS NOT the time..." 'Aurora explained in a disheartened tone'

"Actually that was quite the appropriate time given your species nature" 'Peridot stated bluntly as she formed a green gem screen in front of her, catching Aurora's attention'

"While the act of reproduction was still considered a private affair in Metamorin society it was also no where near as taboo as it is in Human society, which is what you are conditioned too" 'Peridot explained as she read the screen in front of her'

"Do I...want to know what you mean by that?" 'Aurora asked hesitantly'

"In Metamorin society the act known that the humans call "Flirtation" was often used between two individuals that held a link to each other. When a Metamorin's subconscious processors could see no way to cheer their spouse up they would distract them with "Flirtation" 'Peridot continued, causing Bismuth to gently bump aurora with her elbow'

"See? Nothin wrong with what you did! Sure it may not have been the BEST place for it. But you still did it to cheer him up" 'Bismuth stated reassuringly as Aurora sat in a conflicted state'

'Aurora sat in silence as she had began to process the new stream of information that had been given to her'

"That...kind of makes me feel better. But I...still feel-" 

"Bad?" 'Bismuth added, cutting Aurora off'

'Aurora went to say something before she cut herself off, her cheeks flushing a deep purple momentarily'

"Yeah...lets go with that" 'Aurora said in agreement, rubbing her forehead before she crossed her arms, having begun to bounce her left leg'

'Aurora continued bouncing her leg as her hair began to take on a a pink glow, steam having begun to flow off of her hair as it had started to flow weakly'

"I could synthesize a serum that would slow your reactor if you would like" 'Peridot offered, earning a small but shaky smile from Aurora'

"Yes please!" 'Aurora said thankfully, shivering slightly as she did so'

"Sit tight tiger. I'll make you some tea" 'Bismuth said as she stood up, earning a thankful smile from Aurora'

"You needn't worry Aurora. It's likely just part of your link cycle. It should end in a day or so" 'Peridot informed, earning a confused expression from Aurora'

"Link cycle?" 'Aurora repeated quietly, obviously not recognizing the term'

"The link cycle is essentially the Metamorin hormonal cycle. However it only activates once two individuals enter into a link, even then it requires both partners to be in an advanced link stage" 'Peridot explained as she typed away on a gem screen'

"How do you know all this?" 'Aurora asked in surprise, a still mildly embarrassed tone being audible in her voice'

"Once Chip returned from Homeworld I had started my research on the Metamorin people just in case something like this happened. You two are the only known remaining members of your species. I want to make sure you two are as healthy as possible" 'Peridot stated in a genuine tone'

"You do care in your own way. Don't you?" 'Aurora remarked in a surprised tone, earning a small smile from Peridot'

"I like to think I do" 'Peridot admitted in agreement'
