Chapter Two

"CheckMate" 'Garnet said as she moved her chess piece earning a heavy sigh from the woman in front of her'

"Why do I play this with you?" 'Priyanka asked with a sigh, rubbing her brow'

"Because you enjoy my company" 'Garnet stated in a matter of fact tone as she began to reset her side of the chess board'

"Hey! You two old ladies seen Chip?" 'Greg asked with a mildly teasing tone as he popped his head out of the beach house door'

"Im afraid not. I was supposed to do a check up on him, he was going to let me study him for a bit" 'Priyanka explained with a sigh'

"Yeah that's what I thought. The kid said he'd help me with with my van today, he never sleeps in this late" 'Greg said as he walked out of the door'

'Garnet chuckled lightly as she placed the last chess piece down'

"I'm letting him rest. He and Aurora had quite the long night last night" 'Garnet said simply, earning a cough from Priyanka as she had been sipping her tea'

"Wait you dont mean-"

"Lets just say their link has been finalized. They'll need their rest" 'Garnet explained with a smirk'

"Well I suppose that's valuable information regarding my studies, i didn't want to find out this way though" 'Priyanka said with a small chuckle'

"I could have told you the similarities between Metamorin and Human biology. It's quite uncanny" 'Garnet stated in a matter of fact tone'

"One of them will probably be up soon, but they will be tired" 'Garnet finished with a chuckle'

"Ah I can wait till tomorrow. Not like im going on a road trip or somethin any time soon" 'Greg said with a grin as he walked back into the beach house, shaking his head slightly'

'Priyanka shook her head in slight amusement'

"It seems just like it was yesterday that Steven and Connie met. A lot has changed since then" 'Priyanka reminisced, playing her first move'

"Things never really went the way I thought they would. I remember when we first found Chip we were going to get him up to speed and send him off on his own" 'Garnet said in a thoughtful tone of her own'

"I never expected for him to get so attached, I certainly didn't expect to either" 'Garnet continued'

"Both Chip and Steven have had their issues. Steven is on his way to learning to cope, I can only hope Chip is as well" 'Priyanka said in a thoughtful tone, waiting for Garnet to take her turn'

'Garnet paused as she had taken hold of her first pawn, placing it back down'

"I'm not sure. I believe he is finding his own way, but he is quite difficult to read" 'Garnet admitted as she looked at the Chess board'

'Garnet stopped as she heard a creek on the deck, a smirk crossing her face'

"You're usually not so clumsy"  'Garnet said with a chuckle, earning a look of confusion from Priyanka'

'After a moment Chip decloaked'

'He wwas wearing a rather lazy outfit. Even for his own standards'

'He was wearing a gray hoodie and grayish black sweatpants'

"Didn't get much sleep?" 'Garnet asked with a light knowledgeable smirk'

"No comment. I'm just going out to grab some snacks for Aurora" 'Chip said with a tired tone, his blue eyes flickering tiredly'

"Im surprised you're even out and about right now" 'Garnet said with a teasing chuckle, earning a dull blush from Chip'

"I hate you" 'Chip said coldly as he began to walk away'

"I love you too" 'Garnet replied simply, her smirk widening'
