Chapter One: A Mother's Advice

'Chip was sat in his lab aboard the Eclipse, mixing a set of glowing chemicals'

'One chemical was glowing a vibrant blue while the other was glowing a radioactive green color'

'Chip looked uneasy, his gem had the same dull pink center that his eyes did'

'Despite his reactor feeling as if it were over clocked he was holding the two vials of liquid with ease'

'As he combined the two liquids he places the remaining vial into a stand, stopping as his hud came online'

'Before he could turn around Garnet picked up the vial from behind him, earning an alarmed string of beeps from Chip'

"Usually I cant sneak up on you" 'Garnet stated with a chuckle as she looked over the Vial. Causing Chip to turn around to face her'

"So what's bothering you?" 'Garnet questioned curiously as she placed the vial back down onto the stand'

'Chip took an empty vial from the stand quietly as he held it, looking over the different elements he had on the table in front if him'

"I dont know what you're talking about" 'Chip stater bluntly, earning a smirk from the fusion behind him'

"So you're just making a serum for the fun of it then?" 'Garnet asked in a doubtful tone, having crossed her arms'

"Maybe I am!" 'Chip said in his own defense, earning little to no reaction from his mother'

'Garnet simply raised an eyebrow under her visor, causing Chip to shrink under gaze'

"What's going on?" 'Garnet asked again, earning a hesitant hum from Chip, his eyes going black as he did so'

'Chip dropped a small metal ball into the vial in his hand before sighing heavily'

"I took Aurora to the ship you found me in. And when we were there I started to spiral" 'Chip explained, earning a nod from his adoptive mother'

"As you tend to do" 'Garnet remarked in agreement'

"And being her flirtatious self. She started to act out" 'Chip continued, earning a chuckle from Garnet'

"As she does"

"B-But this time...felt different" 'Chip stated hesitantly, catching Garnet's full attention'

"How so?" 'Garnet asked curiously, causing Chip to tense up slightly'

'Chip let out a low mechanical whirr as the pink glow in his eyes deepend slightly'

"Chip, you know you can tell me anything" 'Garnet said softly as she placed her hands on his shoulders'

'Chip hesitantly turned around to face his mother, still looking down'

'Garnet softly hooked Chip's chin with her index finger, making him look up at her. A look of mild surprise crossing her face'

'Chip's eyes had started glowing a deep pink color, steam having begun to flow from his hair'

"I believe I understand now" 'Garnet admitted with a soft chuckle, crossing her arms as she did so'

'Chip let out a few weak beeps as his eyes flickered, causing Garnet to sit down cross legged'

'Moments afterwards Chip seemed to malfunction, causing his legs to buckle as he breifly went offline'

'Garnet swiftly caught Chip, bringing him into a protective hold, like she used too when he first came online'

'As he came back online and the pink glow returned to his eyes Chip struggled monetarily before his memory caught up to him'

"I wanna shut down..." 'Chip said in an embarrassed tone, burrying his face in his hands'

"I don't think that's what you want" 'Garnet said with a chuckle. Earning a groan from Chip'

"Mother now is not the time....." 'Chip said quietly the whirring of his reactor causing a distortion in his voice'

'Garnet chuckled to herself as she started to gently run her fingers through Chip's hair'

"It is entirely natural for you to feel that towards her. She's your link, both of you can activate that connection" 'Garnet said reassuringly, causing Chip to cross his arms tightly against his midsection, clearly uncomfortable'

"Gross" 'Chip said bluntly, his eyes flickering meekly'

"It's not gross at all. I think it's beautiful you've linked someone, especially at such a young age for a Metamorin" 'Garnet informed, taking Chips hand into her own, looking at it as she did so'

"Feels gross...." 'Chip muttered, using his telekinesis to pull both of filled vials to him'

"Chip. It could take the average Metamorin years or even decades to meet their link. Sure you and Aurora are a special case. But it's still incredible that you two have each other" 'Garnet continued as Chip poured the first vial into the second'

"So naturally you two would have those types of urges towards each other. Though I didn't expect your link to progress so quickly" 'Garnet said with a soft chuckle as Chip mixed the serum together, watching it turn a pinkish red color'

'Before she could question him Chip downed the serum, Coughing slightly as steam began to flow more agressively from his hair'

"What did you just drink?" 'Garnet questioned warily'

"A calming solution. It should slow down my r.p.s" 'Chip explained as he let out a sigh of relief'

"Rotations per second?" 'Garnet asked curiously, taking the vial into her left hand'

"Yep. I cant get anythin done properly in the state im currently in" 'Chip said as his the outer layers of his irises turned a dull blue'

"It's not healthy for you to just ignore these things Chip" 'Garnet warned cautiously, a more serious tone creeping into her voice'

"It's better than just sitting around trying to override my core systems" 'Chip said as he tried to sit up, finding Garnet was holding him in place'

'Chip struggled for a moment or two before falling back into a sitting position in Garnet's lap. An amused smile having crossed her face'

"Seriously?" 'Chip asked in annoyance'

"I dont get to do this that often anymore. Let me have this" 'Garnet said with a soft tone'
