Unfortunately Fortunate [Stucky x Reader]

Chapter 24

You enter the main room, most are seated with their backs to the entrance.
You smile at Loki before pulling her with you. There is only a one seat and a three seat sofa, and not for a second do you want Loki to sit alone while facing the Avengers.
You pull Bucky with you, having made a quick plan.

You gesture for Steve to sit on the left, pull Bucky to sit next to him and seating Loki next to Bucky before making yourself comfortable on Bucky's lap.
"There is still a free spot?" Natasha says.
"I'm comfortable sitting here." You smile at her, giving her a wink.

Natasha nods to Loki, not saying anything about her appearance, yet also no non-verbal response.
"We heard about your arrival. Welcome. I am sorry it all happened without us realising." Natasha says, sounding genuine and non-threathening.
"I... Erhm... Thank you?" Loki sounds unsure, still very insecure.
Especially when you see that Tony, Sam and Rhodey are starting.
Clint just nodded politely.

"You know it is not polite to stare at a lady." You say, putting a little warning in your voice.
Bucky wraps his arms around your middle, pulling you closer to him. As if to physically holding you back from moving. Steve takes your hand in his, softly stroking his thumb over your palm.

Tony looks flustered for a bit, surprisingly, before he regains his posture and starts with why he all wanted you to meet here.
"We have been requested to assist an important transfer between two highly secured compounds tomorrow. They won't disclose what they are transferring, but it is of great importance blablabla, they fear that they might be attacked during the transfer. We are to stay around a perimeter, they wanted 2 people in the same van, and 1 in the van in front and 1 in the van behind." Tony looks at everyone, eyes lingering a little longer on Loki before opening a 3D map with cars.

"Their suggestion on placement is shit. They want Bucky and Steve in the van with the important whatever, Y/n in the one behind and Wanda in the one in the front.
I find that highly suspicious so we are changing that."
Everyone nods.

"Loki and Y/n in the middle van, Clint in the first one, Natasha in the one behind. Keep an eye out for danger. Everyone else are to stay in the perimeter of the cars. It kinda sounds fishy, which makes me suspicious but is it a government request so we can't say no."

You feel Bucky tense behind you.
"I don't like this," he says, "it feels like a plot for something else."
"Agreed." Steve says, sitting up straighter, still holding your hand.
"I'd rather sacrifice myself and get Y/n and Loki out of the car. Both ladies are not to put in unnecessary danger like that. Loki can help from outside the car, Y/n can be called in for healing if necessary."
You want to start on why that is a bad idea, when Loki cuts in.

"If I am kept safe from far behind the lines, I could manifest the people in the car. Because it is for 4 different people that need to look life-like and need to interact life-like, that I'll be vulnerable in case of attack."
"We could take a quinjet? Turn the invisibility on so we are not seen. That way we are close in case of a fight, yet Loki is also safe?"  Natasha presents.

There is some murmuring before a final nod.
"Sounds like a plan. Are you sure you can do that, Loki? That's a lot of magic to use at once."
"Don't question my strength." Her voice has an edge to it.
"We don't. We just don't want you to burn out."
"I'll be fine."

"Well that is arranged. So Natasha, Clint and Y/n stay with Loki to protect and keep up the front. Everyone else is close to the perimeters. At the first sign of suspicious activity, we leave." Tony says, finalizing the meeting.
"We leave tomorrow at 9am sharp."

"I'm not liking this." You whisper to Bucky while everyone leaves.
"Why?"
"I feel you and Steve are targeted... You are still on the field. I don't like it."
"We'll be near others. They can't just take us." Steve says, having heard what you said.
"I know that... And I know you're far from weak, but I just... I have a bad feeling about it. I don't like this."

"What kind of feeling?" Loki asks carefully, not sure if she was meant to hear it.
"I can't really describe it. Just... As if something feels wrong?"
"Have you ever felt that before?" She asks.
"No, why?"
"Maybe your gift is evolving? I only heard snippets on what your gift entails, but could it be?"
You stay silent for a bit, processing everything.
"I don't know. I just... I know I used my gift more since I am hear." Your are staring at nothing while lost in thought for a moment longer.
"That's not right either. I haven't used it more... As in not more frequent. But I have been going more in depth with my gift. I healed the last of Buck's triggers while slightly panicking which caused me to go too far. And in response to going too far, my body collapsed and I healed myself which caused me to nearly die. Tony and Bruce had to put me in an artificial coma so my gift didn't heal me as I would have killed myself in the process of healing myself."

You look at Loki with curiosity, seeing as she has a whole different perspective and knowledge spectrum than you have here on earth.
"There is a possibility that in the process of you healing yourself subconsciously, that you unlocked more over what your powers, your gift, can do. It's just a theory. We still don't know what that actually means for you. If this feeling is just your intuition going off, you going in overprotective mode over your boyfriends, or your gift is warning you."

"We'll see tomorrow, sweetheart. We'll be extra alert and with the tiniest bit of suspicion I'll let you know through the comms. You can pick us up then." Steve gently tries to compromise.
"I still don't like it..." You whisper as you lean against Bucky's shoulder, taking Steve's hand and playing with his fingers.

A/n: I hope everyone has a great Sunday! I'm currently at work, and finished this chapter. I thought, 'why not end this week with a chapter!'
I must admit I've been more productive with writing this week than I have been before hahah
