You sit next to Steve on the sofa in the living room, talking to Loki about the dogs and how to be sure they don't get anxious.

"I think it would be best for them to be able to go outside by themselves too?" Loki mutters out loud.
"As in, them taking the elevator by themselves?"
"Yeah. I think we could ask Jarvis, maybe get him to asses the garden first to see who is there? Like, in case they feel like they just need to go outside for a bit and no one is able to go? Or like once we are out of our personal lockdown, when we are on mission?"
"It doesn't sound all too bad if there is a clear watch of who is in the garden... I mean, I don't want Cas to feel like he has to be on guard all the time."

A shirt silence, both you and Loki are thinking.
"I could try to make a safe smaller garden on the roof? I can make it so that they get fresh air?" Tony offers carefully.
"We could help? I don't really like just sitting around. And yes, I know I can't see yet, but I don't want to feel useless."

"Tones likes to do stuff on his own, but I could keep you busy?" Loki offers.
You feel Steve tense and there is a short silence before you hear a sharp intake from Loki, "that came out the wrong way. Please do not glare at me Rogers, that was far from my intention. I was merely thinking to let Y/n help me out with the slight mind control that is sadly enough still partially present."

"I'm glad that what I heard was a misunderstanding." you hear Bucky say from a bit behind you. He must have just arrived. "You guys should know by now that I know I am yours, and that Loki became a dear friend of mine. Nothing more, nothing less." you reprimand them.
"We'll handle our jealousy a bit better, dear, we didn't mean to give you the impression that you would leave us, nor should we have given Loki the impression that we would think they would take you from us. It's no excuse, but the lockdown put us on edge." Bucky says.
"It's okay sweetheart, just try to keep jealousy a bit more on the downlow when it comes to my friends in this team. I would never leave you willingly. I love both of you too much for that."

"We love you too," both Steve and Bucky say. You smile before turning back to where you think Loki is seated.
"I know I am currently still blind, but energy-wise I should still be okay. We could start today, if you want? You'll have to talk to me first about the how and some details about it, like I said before. Afterwards I could try and slowly unravel a part of it?"
"I guess I'm ready, I trust you."
You smile, "where you wanna go. I remember that you only wanted me present when you told your story. I'll have to ask Steve and or Buck to be present when I start the actual unraveling."
"Yeah, you said that back then too. Ehm, we could talk in mine or your room, depending on what you feel most comfortable with."
"Your room then, as I need you to feel safe and comfortable. It's prior from what I feel. But to ease your mind, I would feel comfortable in your room too. Not sure what these two would think of you falling asleep in our bed, after unraveling part of it."

Loki grins, "let's go."
"I'll call for you, sweethearts. Please don't stress too much." you tell your soldiers before turning to Loki.
You get up, hearing rustling of clothing signaling Loki getting up too.
It's easier to find the elevator now that your mind is clearer.

You step in the elevator when you hear the doors open, you hear Loki follow.
"Thank you for trusting me." they say, sounding so sincere that you know that you won't like the story they are going to tell.
"Why shouldn't I trust you, Loki? Past you is not the 'you' you are now, and I trust you. So know that whatever it is you are going to tell me, I wouldn't stop trusting you. Like I said, you are my friend."
"But what if I scare you off?"
"You won't. Sweetheart, I promise you, you won't."

The elevator stops and you walk in the hallway, waiting near where you remember the door to Loki's room is.
They open the door, "after you."
You smile and walk in the room, seating yourself on the bed.

You feel the bed dip, Loki sitting down next to you.
A silence, turning tense the longer it takes so you cut the silent tension, "start with the start Lokes. I need the general idea of the kind of mind control and the areas in your brain. Those are the minimal details I need. Everything else is what you want to tell me. The more I know, the easier it could be for me to fix it, but I can do it with the bare minimal too. No stress, you will still be the Loki I know, my best friend. So take a deep breath, relax. I won't judge or hurt you."

And that is how Loki starts talking. They tell you everything, from how the looked up to Thor, to how Odin treated them from a young age. How accepting Frigga and Thor where of Loki's gender identity and sexuality but how horrible Odin was. About how angry they became of everything and everyone, making them vengeful. Of figuring out that Loki was actually a stolen relic, in a way. About their Jotunn background, about the secrets of their kids that literally no one aside from Odin knows about. About how the longer everything went on, the longer Odin made Loki feel more anger. The point they snapped and jumped off the rainbow bridge to only be captured and tortured by the head of the chitauri, about how Thanos let The Other magic his was in Loki's brain and manipulate them to the puppet they were. The torture they endured during everything.

You are crying with Loki at the end of the story, hugging them close.
"I'm so sorry that you went through all that, Lokes." you whisper to them, while you hold them.
Both of you needing time to recollect yourselves.

Loki's breathing calms and you let them go from the hug, feeling that they are ready to face the world again.
"I'm sorry I unloaded all that on you. It was more than you necessarily needed."
"Don't worry, Lokes, I'm glad you trusted me enough to tell me all that. And it helps a lot with the next step, because I know where to look now."
Loki nods, "you should call your soldiers in."
"You sure you are ready for that now, Loki? We could wait a bit, if you feel better with that."
"No, I'm fine."
"Okay, let's call my boys in then."

A/n: My workmarathon is over! At some point it was only a new colleague and myself that had to divide shifts between the two of us, because everyone else was on sick leave...
I work at a residency and we usually have 3 shifts a day, so we both divided to the best of our abilities, but she was new so I took up triple shifts with barely any breaks leaving me too exhausted to do anything. My routine was literally wake up, work morning to evening get home, try to eat something and sleep. (and of course repeat).
But everyone is back! I'm just sick now... stomach ache due to stress and light anemia... oops... In short, I have time to write again!

I hope you enjoyed this chapter!
