Unfortunately Fortunate [Stucky x Reader]

Chapter 39

In the elevator something clicks, "how did you know that you had to make a wall?"
"Ehm... I was with Tony and Natasha when Nick entered our living quarters within the tower. I was also present when you called Tony. As soon as Nick Fury presented the idea of coming to get you three, I got up too and followed."
"Aha." Your voice sounds vulnerable while your face flushed red a little.

"Don't worry, dear, no one saw anything. We didn't even hear that much. You're still okay. And if it helps, you were not the only one almost caught in a compromising position. You were smart enough to go to your room, we... Kind of forgot."

You turn to Loki, "we? Being?"
"Na-ah, no telling, at least not yet."
A soft smile appears on your face, just happy to know that whoever it is, accepts Loki for who they are.

"Glad you could join us." Fury sounds his sarcastic, demanding self.
You decide not to answer and to just let Steve lead you to a spot to sit down.

As you sit down next to Steve, and Bucky sitting down next to you, you slightly turn to where you assume Fury is standing.
"Now that everyone is gathered and I got your attention, we need to talk about what happened. There are 27 soldiers missing, as if they disappeared from the earth. We know they were last seen by you."
"They tried to kill us. It was a trap."
"Stark showed us the footage, indeed. The point I wanted to reach, these were all agents that looked like S.H.I.E.L.D agents, yet they weren't the real ones. Most of these agents, were located in the office at the moment the fight broke out with your team. It makes us believe that there is someone out there wanting multiple of your team to presumably make their own. So we are thinking about Hydra. We want to put you on lock down for at least a month, as to investigate who is behind this operation and who specifically they want from your team. It looked like Captain and Winter Soldier, yet a few of the analysers aren't so sure about that. So until further notice, you aren't allowed to leave these living quarters."
That being said, you hear footsteps walking away.

"What the heck just happened? Did he honestly just... Put us in lock down in the tower?" Clint asks.
You feel your anxiety rise, grabbing Steve's hand a bit tighter.
His thumb slowly and gently rubs your hand, helping you to calm down.

"No panicking, please. We are all safe here, I'll make sure we'll have everything stocked so no one misses something. Try to see it as some time off?" Tony tries to sound positive, yet a little tremble in his voice betrays how he really feels.

"How are we going to walk the dogs?" You ask, "because I don't think some else can gather their trust fast enough to make walks."

"There is a big garden a few levels down. We'll need to convince Fury to give us access there for the dogs. Jarvis can you send that request out to Fury."
"Of course Mr. Barnes."

You get up, walking to where you remember the elevator is, only bumping to something twice.
"I'm going to the roof to clear my head." You say when you wait on the elevator, feeling the silence press down on you.
"Mind if we join?" Steve asks.
"I kinda want to be alone, yet I know it is unsafe to be alone. So sure."

You hear 3 pairs of footsteps walking towards you, recognizing the different steps once they get close.
Bucky, Steve and Natasha.
You almost expected Loki to join too, but going in the elevator you don't hear them join.

Going up, there is silence. Once outside you just enjoy the cold biting your cheeks, goosebumps covering your body.
You greatly appreciate that they join you, yet give you the space you need at this moment.
The idea of being locked up makes you anxious, even when you didn't go out much before.

"Can I talk?" Natasha asks after a long while of silence.
You feel more relaxed so you answer with, "sure."
"The three of you, how does it work?"
For a moment you let the question sink in, Steve and Bucky haven't answered either, probably assessing Natasha's expressions.

"It works. Communication is very important, as is trust. Even when we haven't been together that long, I trust them. All because we talk, ask, explain, ... And okay we don't know everything from each other, which is okay, yet the trust is still present. It's because we have this mutual trust, and communicate as much as possible, that it keeps on working. Although, that is my opinion."
"I can only agree to that, Doll."
Steve hums in agreement.

"And what about different needs?"
"Needs being..?"
"Sex."
"No one is pressured. If someone doesn't want it, and the others do, there will be discussion if it is okay for the 2 to continue or not. No one is obligated to have sex. So, again, communication and trust." Bucky answers.

"Why?" You ask.
"For no reason really, I got curious after seeing how flawless you seem to interact with each other."
You smile at what you hope is Natasha's direction, "thank you for that compliment."

You hear them grinning, which also made your lingering anxiety lower.
"It's getting cold maybe we should go down again?" You ask.
"Of course, Sweetheart. Let's go." You hear someone come closer before taking your hand and putting it on they arm. Steve.

"Can I ask you a few questions alone?" You hear Natasha ask, the voice not really traveling to you making you think it wasn't to you.
"Sure." Bucky answers.
"Let's go down already. We don't have to freeze while they talk." Steve whispers, slowly moving you further to the elevator before stepping in and moving down.

Back in the living area, your thoughts are going over what Nat might want to discuss with Bucky alone.

Work is currently crazy as there are a lot of colleagues on sick leave. So I'm almost always working. I really wanted to write this chapter earlier but I was unable to.
I hope I can get the next chapter written by next week, but I won't make any promises as it will be very busy with work, on very long shifts too...
