Chapter 28

It's later in the afternoon when you wake up, still surrounded by your guys.
"How did you sleep?" Bucky asks softly.
You turn to look up at him, "I slept well. Did you sleep some?"
"Yes, he woke after me." Steve answers, pressing a kiss to your neck after.

"Loki was here shortly for you, they said to come find them once you were awake and ready to get out of bed." You look at Bucky confused.
"They gave us a speech on how the use of 'she' is no longer the right one. They felt weird all day until they figured out that it was because of the use of gendered pronounces. They say that it happens occasionally and for us to tell you so you already know." Steve says.
"Oh, well, good to know! Thank you."
You press a kiss on Steve's lips before turning and snuggling back into Bucky's arms, pulling Steve closer.
"I guess you are not ready to get out of bed yet?"
You shake your head and continue to soak up this safe happy feeling.

At some point there is scratching on the door followed by a knock.
"Yes?" You ask loud enough for the person to hear.
The door opens and suddenly there are dogs jumping on the bed for snuggles and kisses.
You smile and giggle while trying to return the affection of the dogs, noticing Cas is missing.
"Okay okay, enough sweeties, enough." You say as you sit up a bit straighter.

Loki leans on the door with Cas sitting next to them.
"Hi Loki, it seems that Cas likes you." You say as you smile at them.
"Yeah, we are bonding. I feel some sort of familiarity with him. Having gone through my own history."
"Same as Nat. She had an instant connection with Cas too. We based all the other dogs around taking Cas home." You say with a smile.
"Interesting."

"These two said you asked me to find you once awake and ready to get out of bed?"
Loki grins, "yeah. I guess you are not ready to get out of bed yet. Most certainly not now with all of them in your bed."
"Are they talking about us or the dogs?" Bucky stage whispers.
You grin and shake your head with a smile.
"Both, I wouldn't leave the bed either if I wear in a similar situation."
"Oh, should I be worried of you taking my boyfriends?"
Loki looks a bit flustered, "no, I merely meant to intend that if I were in bed with my crush or loved one and the dogs I wouldn't want to leave either."

The gears in your head are turning, and Loki sees that.
"So who are you crushing one?" You ask with a smile as you pat the end of the bed for Loki to sit down on.
"Yeah, Lokes, who of the team?" Bucky smiles as he kisses your head before leaning over and pressing a kiss on Steve's head too.

"I have no clue what you are talking about." Loki says, yet they walk in the room and sit down. Cas jumps on the bed to lay his head on Loki's lap.
Even Steve raises his brows at that.
Loki sees this and deflates, "it doesn't matter anyway because for one, it would become nothing until I get rid of all the mind control and two, why would... This person even want to love me. After all I've done."
"They'll see what an amazing person you are, Lokes, you are worth everything. And we can work on the mind control once your re ready for it."

"That's why I asked you to come, I want to discuss some terms, get some questions of mine answered, if that is okay?"
"Yeah sure. Do you want me to get dressed and we go do something or..."
"Nah, they can hear it. It might be safer for them to hear it as they will be present with the actual healing."
You nod.

"So, you said you need to have a general idea first before you can start?"
"Yes."
"Is general enough or...?"
"The more specific you go, the easier is will become to unravel things. But I can work with a general explanation. So that part is fully up to you."
Loki nods.
"And the healing, will you see what happened?"
You hesitate, before answering, "yes. Once I found it I see images that are attached. Only the once attached to it. I won't remove the images, only the mind control that is still there. It can be multi-layered, it could be a simple something. I will not judge what I see, nor will I progress 100% of the imagery I get to see as my focus will be on the healing."

"So it might be easier to just tell everything?"
"Telling versus me seeing it are fully different. So you tell me what you want to tell me."
"How do you cope afterwards?" Loki asks.
This question leaves you dumbstruck.

"I... I erm... Wow I never thought of that. I still carry these images with me, from everyone I mentally healed. But it doesn't hurt me, doesn't affect me too much. I learned early on that this is not what I experience but what others did. I might still cry because of what is done, but I won't judge. Never would I judge."

"Before Bucky, did you heal someone else mentally?"
"Yes."
"Are there things that trigger you?"
"There always will be things that trigger me. I just learned to not respond to the triggers while healing someone. To be fair I don't think I will be surprised anymore on what I find in memories linked to mental strings that need healing. I either experienced it myself in my past, or I've seen a variation of it in someone else's imagery."

Loki nods before taking a deep breath, "is there a possibility that I respond to the healing as the mind control could fight back?"
It's Steve that answers, "yes, there is a chance. But you will not be able to go as far as getting to touch her. She heals at a rapid pace, and even with slow healing she somehow finds a way to make the physical respond lower or not happen."
"And seidr responses?"
"That's why you need me to tell the general. Bucky's triggers where all based on physical responses. Killing, hurting, drawing a gun and shooting. So I know to work with that. With you there could be certain seidr involved. So if you tell me in what way it could respond, I could prepare for that. That's why the talking beforehand is so important."

You feel that Bucky is very tense next to you, so you take his hand and interlace your fingers. Pressing a soft kiss on his hand. He relaxes a little.

"What are the side effects for you?"
"Aside from the fact that I might tear up a bit when seeing images, because I'm empathic, is that some things might hurt to unravel. It's why I need monitoring so I stop on time. I lose my sight for a while. But I am used to that.
It might be for a few days, as mental healing takes up more energy, while physical wounds are fairly easy."

"You sure you're okay with that?"
"Yeah."
Loki's looks at Cas, who likes their hand before pressing his nose up to get more pets from them.

"Depending on the mission tomorrow, I might want to start the healing proces?"
"That's amazing news Loki! So after tomorrow we can start. In case I do need to heal tomorrow we could just start with the story, and once I recharged enough I can start with your healing."
"Thank you."

You smile before biting your lip, "sooo..." your voice mischievous, "who's your crush Loki. I already ruled out some people. The list is still 3 people long."
"I'm curious if you could be right. Which are the three people you have in mind?"

"Clint, Tony or Natasha."
"Interesting." Loki answers, not giving away a hint, not even flustering.
"It's not fair, how will I know if I got the right person?"
"Wait wait, rewind. You have Clint and Tony in your list? Natasha doesn't surprise me." Steve says, looking confused.

"Tony because even with his major trust issues and his trauma, he still accepts Loki in the tower and provided for them.
Clint because even with the history he has with mind controlled Loki, he is still is patient, kind and understanding.
Both still don't trust Loki, but you know how the enemies to lovers trope goes in books."
"You read to much." Bucky says laughing.
"And Natasha is pretty obvious why it would click, even when she is a spy and very careful. She gives Loki the trust they need to let others see that they can be trusted. Which means a great deal."

"Interesting." Is Loki's only answer, still nothing giving anything away.
"I guess we'll figure it out once it happens. I'm curious if I could have been right or that I'm totally off with my guesses."
"You'll hopefully see one day. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have a book to get back to." Loki gets up and leaves the room, followed closely by Cas.

"Let's make a bet. The one that is right in the end gets to decide what we'll do that day." Bucky offers with a big smile.

"Okay, I think it is Natasha." Steve says.
"My bet is on Clint." You answer.
"Guess I'll take Stark. I'm curious who is right."

You nod before laying trying to find a position to lay down with three dogs on the bed.
