It's been a long time

Chapter 45

The two couples woke up around noon once again and met up on the front deck. "Morning." Meredith said as she and Derek took a seat togetehr in the hammock.

"Good morning." Addison said, curled up in marks lap on the other hammock. "What do you guys want to do today?" Mark asked.

"Snorkeling?" Derek suggested. "I saw it on an article and i can't stop thinking about it." He added.

"What is it? Like where do you go?" Meredith asked, resting her head on his chest. "You take a boat out to the water pretty deep, and then there is an instructor who guides us and stuff." He explained.

"Sounds good to me." Mark said. "I'll book 4 tickets for...1:30? It's not far away." Derek replied, pulli it up on his phone. "Sure." Addison agreed with a smile.

They all got up and changed into their swimsuits with clothes over. "Ready to go?" Mark asked as he nursed his coffee.

They got into the car and drove off. Mark called drivers seat, so he had control of the music. He very badly sang 'Life is a Highway' the whole time, amusing the other 3 drivers. "Stick to surgery, Sloan." Derek said with a chuckle.

"And...we're here. This is the place right?" Mark asked as he pulled in to a parking lot. "Yes." Derek confirmed.

"Hi, name is Shepherd." Derek said to the worker. "Party of 4? Right this way." She said with a polite smile, leading them all to the boat. "This is Jeffrey. He'll be your scuba instructor for the day."

"Hi guys. So, as she said, I'm Jeffrey, and our driver today is in the boat already, and his name is Tony. So, shall we begin?" Jeffrey asked. The four all nodded and boarded.

"So, your gear is all on board already. For the first few minutes until we get out there more, feel free to chat, move around, do anything. Just please be safe."

Meredith and Derek stood at the front of the ship, overlooking the water, while Mark and Addison looked out the back.

"It's gorgeous out here." Meredith breathed, enjoying the fresh air. "You're gorgeous." Derek said, wrapping his arms around her and holding on to the railing, enveloping her into his arms.

Meredith turned around in his arms and looked into his dreamy blue eyes. "I love you." He whispered, kissing her softly. "I love you too."

"All right everyone, we're here. Come to the side over by the captains door." Jeffrey said over the intercom.

The four made their way to the side. "This may be big on you, but it'll be okay. The water will keep it tight." Jeffrey said, handing Meredith a wet suit.

They all changed and got their oxygen tanks secured on to their backs.

"Alright. I'll show you how, and when I come up, I'll let you know when to go. Ready?" He asked before diving in to the water. Meredith, Derek, Addison, and Mark all watched in interest as Jeffrey sunk down to the sea floor, losing sight of him quick.

Minutes later, he came back up. "We have almost an hour of oxygen. So just dive on in when your ready, and keep the tube in your mouth at all times." He instructed. Derek held on to Merediths hand and dove in.

It was beautiful. They could see miles of coral, fish everywhere, and it was fascinating. Derek pointed in awe at a big fish, swimming right past them.

Jeffrey swam over to the four of them and ushered them together, pulling out what seemed to be a waterproof camera. They all lined up in a row and smiled as best as they could with the mouth piece in. Jeffrey came a thumbs up.

Ten minutes later, they all met back up at the surface. Jeffrey helped the four back into the boat, and then got all the gear off. "That was awesome!" Derek exclaimed. "Great idea Der." Meredith praised.

"Never been? What do you guys do for a living?" Jeffrey asked curiously on their way back to land. "We're all surgeons." Mark replied with a proud smile. "Oh, that's awesome!  Must be nice to get away, huh?"

"Very." Meredith replied with a giggle.

They made small talk on the way back, and when they got to land, they all got into the car and drove back. "I never want to go back." Addison said, admiring the beautiful scenery outside the window.

They got back to the house at around 4:00pm, and they were all pretty wiped from the adrenaline of it all. "What are we dling for dinner?" Meredith asked as they were all on the couch, curling under dereks arm.

"Ordering pizza. I don't think anyone wants to cook." Mark replied. "Good." Addison mumbled.

Pizza came a little while later and they just ate on th e couch. Eventually, Meredith and Addison both passed out on the couch, so their husbands took them upstairs and called it a night.

The day was fun, and it was exactly what they all needed. Just to relax and have a good time, not worrying about work or anything.
