Shunsui grabbed her hands, (Y/n) staring at him with an open mouth as she tried to figure out where she was and how she got there. She was back in the Soul Society, her arms raised in Shunsui's grip and a part of her desk smashed. Shunsui reached forward and carefully pulled her mask off to her panicked expression. He was calm, his expression soft as he kept eye contact with her. He slowly smiled as their arms lowered and kept ahold of one of (Y/n)'s hands.
He pulled her after him, not a word leaving either of them and the only sound coming from (Y/n)'s ragged breathing. He was leading her to his quarters when she realized their direction. "It's okay to be scared," he hummed. "Although, a pretty woman shouldn't be scared all on her own, (Y/n)."
"I've gotten better control," her voice was weak but audible, a pathetic sound to her ears.
"Let someone help the rest of the way," he slid his door open, letting go of (Y/b)'s hand to motion her inside. "Just until you're better." She stared at him before hanging her head and walking inside.
"You only have one bed," she muttered softly.
"It's better than your desk," he chuckled and sat by the futon, patting it. "Lay down."
"Don't do anything fishy," (Y/n) warned, settling in the futon while glaring at him. Shunsui was a bit slow to sit next to her, his door left open to look out into the night and let in the breeze. It was peaceful compared to the cyclical feel of (Y/n)'s office save for the awkwardness of Shunsui next to her with his drink. The alarms going off had (Y/n) sitting up in a panic. This wasn't her office and it took her a moment to remember Shunsui. Her hand fluttered to her neck, the plum blossom nestled over her collarbone. Her jacket had been removed and blankets pooled in her lap. Something felt off and it made (Y/n) frown slightly.
Her mind pondered the feeling as she grabbed her jacket and took off to find the captain she'd shadow. Shunsui was starting to show up for every troubled moment and she didn't know how to take it. She didn't mind it but if he continued, he'd find every little secret she was hiding. He would think differently of her after seeing every part of her she hid away. But he knew her before she vanished so was he just checking on her so often as a concerned friend?
She had to leave it up to that as she stopped running at Soi Feng's doorway to the angry woman. "You're late," she barked.
"It won't happen again, Captain," (Y/n) bowed before quickly following the other's footsteps. Soi Feng flashed and (Y/n) followed suit, being stopped at the door to the meeting room by Yamamoto himself.
"While these meetings are normally private, you are a shadow today," he said quietly. "No outbursts in my meetings."
"I'm on thin ice gramps," (Y/n) stared at the doubtful eyes on her, Shunsui and Jushiro the only two smiling at her. "I can't jeopardize anything or speak up yet." He stared for a moment before walking in, taking a place behind Soi Feng quietly. She had felt his hand on her head for a moment and it put a small smile on her face. Was he softer in his old age?
"Why is a third seat here," Captain Mayuri snapped. Captain Yamamoto started the meeting, ignoring the remark.Soi Feng was efficient and cold as she gave orders but there was a patience (Y/n) hadn't expected when she asked about who had infiltrated before. (Y/n) had gained a small bit of respect for Ichigo after the explanation, a smirk on her face that was short lived when the mention of betrayals by captains came up. Her feet stopped and Soi Feng stopped to stare back at her in confusion. "What is it," she sighed irritably.
"I remember what Gin and Tosen looked like but was Aizen the one with glasses," (Y/n)'s words were slow as they came out. She didn't notice the shaking in her hands like Soi Feng did and it made the other scowl more. It was a long moment before the reply came.
"Yes." It clicked and (Y/n) lost control for a moment as her face relaxed. Her spiritual pressures pressed down on the subordinates and Soi Feng widened her stance quickly. He was the one that stood over her when the pain had hit her that night. He was the reason she lost so much time and he might have been the one behind the other disappearances Shunsui had mentioned.
The fist racing for (Y/n)'s face was stopped and it pulled her back to the present. Soi Feng seemed disturbed as (Y/n) let go and she knew it was her fault.
"Forgive me, Captain. I lost control for a moment," (Y/n) nodded.
"Don't let it happen again," Soi Feng snapped. "If you're shadowing me, I expect some decorum." There came a small nod in response but it was half hearted because of (Y/n)'s memory playing over and over again in her head. The day felt like a daze after that, her mind foggy as she tried to connect the betrayal to the hallowfication. She didn't realize she was in her office until she was writing down a sort of map. She jumped up and someone laughed on the other side. Shunsui stood with Jushiro, an ordinary smile on his face and the white haired man looking nervous and pale.
"If you're sick, go sleep," (Y/n) sighed softly.
"We figured you could use some friendly company," Shunsui hummed loudly.
"And I don't mind resting here for a moment," Jushiro held his hands up as the smile turned a bit more genuine. "I don't think Shunsui would let me change my mind after I came all the way here." (Y/n) sat back down and stared at what she had been mapping out before covering it.
"It's like you two grew a sixth sense while I was gone," she snorted. The two sat down and Shunsui started setting down snacks and drinks.
"Your spiritual pressure was hard to miss. You go head to head with Soi Feng again," Shunsui asked. (Y/n) put a blanket over Jushiro's shoulders and sat on the opposite couch.
"Just lost my bearing for a minute," she replied. "Some information was shared and I didn't take it well subconsciously, that's all."
"What was it about," Jushiro asked in a way (Y/n) knew he wouldn't pry if she didn't answer.
"It's," she frowned a bit and sat back, contemplating. What proof did she have to connect Aizen's betrayal to his experimentation? She couldn't just come out and say she became a hallow to them. She'd be locked away or given to Captain Mayuri if they said anything about it. It was safer to keep silent, "I didn't know we were betrayed by captains."
Shunsui was skeptical before he smiled warmly, "You have the same temper as your gramps."
"I like to think I'm a bit nicer," she huffed.
"We aren't saying you're cold," Shunsui laughed. "By the way, aren't you supposed to shadow Soi Feng, not the other way around?"
(Y/n) scowled and stared at the cups, noticing the fourth, "Is she outside? I figured you'd invite her in."
"This isn't my office," he sang and walked to the door. There came mumbling for a moment before Shunsui led the other woman inside with a proud smirk. "Now be nice to little (Y/n). We're all friends here and off duty."
"This could be fraternization," Soi Feng warned.
"If we mix personal life into our work," Jushiro smiled. "(Y/n) has even kept Shunsui and I in line about that so don't worry." Soi Feng took a moment before following Shunsui's example and sitting down, taking the seat next to (Y/n).
"I'm still suspicious of you," the ravenette muttered. (Y/n) handed her a cup of tea and took a cup of sake from Shunsui quietly.
"Yes, I know," she sighed. "I knew I would be under suspicion as soon as I came to."
