(Y/n) slid and stared at the group of soul reapers from squad three. She watched the tension between the Lieutenant and the third seat before tilting her head to the side. There was nothing to sense, and her body relaxed into a state of frustration. She stepped forward, the group stopping to stare at her. "What do you think you're doing," she snapped.
"Third seat Yamamoto," Kibune blinked, surprised by her.
"Who's in charge," she moved forward, standing between Kibune and Kira, her back to the latter. "Because I'm witnessing insubordination."
"Yamamoto," Kira reached out a bit and she held her hand up.
"What right do you have to-"
"Kibune," (Y/n) interrupted the largest of the group, the man flinching as she glared at him. "Do you know why Lieutenant Kira is above you? Or are you ignoring what his position entails entirely?"
"You do not need to police squad three," (Y/n) cut Kibune short, his eyes widening ever so slightly at the blades precariously close to his neck. (Y/n) had the tips of the hooks poking just under his hairline.
"I'm policing it because you're overstepping your jurisdiction in relation to your squad. As a peer and fellow third seat, I'm ashamed you're in the same position," she stated.
"I agree," (Y/n) turned a bit, Amagai slowly approaching. He apologized to the small group before giving his own reprimands to Kibune. (Y/n) put her zanpakuto away moving to the side as she tried to feel out a menos. Why was an alarm sent out of there was nothing around? There came a small spike and (Y/n) blinked.
It was too sudden to be natural, menos coming from nowhere. (Y/n) crouched to lunge, Amagai holding his arm out to stop her. "Yamamoto, please lend us your assistance."
"Captain," Kibune interfered, moving a bit closer. "Yamamoto is still highly suspected of treason against the Thirteen Court Guard Squads since her reappearance." (Y/n) flinched, her grip on her zanpakuto tightening. This was the game he was going to play because he didn't get his way?
"And what is that supposed to mean," Amagai asked calmly.
"It means they don't trust me," (Y/n) muttered. She put her zanpakuto away, leaning against the wall with her arms crossed as Kibune smirked slightly. "If that's the case, fine. I won't move from here."
"No, I would like your participation," Amagai stated. "Everyone, go tell the other squads how we move. Yamamoto, join them." (Y/n) blinked, slowly standing straight, following the ones that had moved out. Kira grabbed her arm and pulled her along with him, her head turning to stare as she followed obediently.
"Stick close to me," he nodded. She kept up with hun easily, joining up with squad eleven.
Ikkaku stared at her and grinned, punching her arm, "Look who's joined the fight." Kira received an order, the blond taking the lead before giving the order. (Y/n) sliced through the menos' side, pulling the reishi and making the strings taught so the menos couldn't move. This wasn't a real menos. It would have been harder to hold and she would have been straining.
Kira stood next to her, blinking as the reishi strings vanished, "You-"
"Don't, I'm still practicing," she sighed softly. He stared and smiled a bit, motioning for her to follow. He flashed back to his captain, (Y/n) right behind him. He was giving orders as if it was a game of chess and she raised an eyebrow. He had been drunk not even a few minutes before so how was he sober now?
"Yamamoto, I apologize for what was said," Kira touched her shoulder and she stared at him, her frame falling a bit.
"It's a widely accepted concept," she stated quietly. "I just didn't think someone would do boldly use it like that."
"You're right," she jerked at Amagai's voice as he placed a hand on her shoulder. "Come back to squad three's offices with me for the debrief. This prejudice needs to be addressed."(Y/n) was made to stand by Captain Amagai, her face blank as she held in her nerves. The office was crowded with all the squad three members as they congratulated themselves on the boost to their reputation. "I have one more thing to address," Amagai's voice was loud and it quieted the room as they focused on him. "It was a boost to this squad but something happened that bothered me."
"Yes Captain," they all stood straight and Amagai turned to (Y/n). She wanted to jerk back, to plead with her eyes to be let out of the cramped space that was his office but her gaze stayed glued to the floor.
"Did what Kibune said hurt, Third Seat Yamamoto," he asked. (Y/n) wanted to curl up and vanish as her throat closed up. She knew she probably looked angry or apathetic but it seemed the silence was all he needed. "If someone had betrayed the Thirteen Court Guard Squads, why would they return when summoned?"
The room stayed silent as everyone's eyes seemed to focus on her, making her skin itch.
"Captain," she took a deep breath and pulled her gaze to stare at Amagai who hadn't stopped looking at her. "I do not need you to defend me. I do not need you to rectify the thoughts of your subordinates because of suspicion. I appreciate the attempt, sir, but I respectfully refuse to be-"
"Did you want to go to Hueco Mundo," Amagai asked. Murmurs broke out and (Y/n)'s whole body jerked back, her hand on her hilts. "Did you want to be subject to torture or ridicule? Did you want to disappear when you did?" Her mouth was dry as her hands shook, the room falling silent once more as she became a spectacle.
How had he learned any of that? How much had he dug into her and who told him? Her mind raced as she stepped back, her entire being ready for some type of attack. "Did you want-"
"Shut up," her voice cracked. It was like she couldn't breath as she moved herself into the corner, the squad members grabbing their hilts.
Amagai held his hand up towards them, finally moving his gaze to the group, "Do you think a traitor would behave like this?" The question settled into the soul reapers minds, their bodies relaxing and releasing their holds. "Rumors are just that. Rumors," Amagai's voice turned into a hum as his head started nodding. "Stop crying now. Kyoraku will get mad at me," he sang before falling asleep.
(Y/n) quickly rubbed at her eyes with her sleeve, hissing out, "Damn it." She stared at the wide eyed members standing in shock, "Quit looking at me like that."
