"How long does it take to answer a phone," (Y/n) held the small device away from her ear. Soi Feng was the one to call, her voice shrill in its distressed tone.
"Sorry, Captain," she sighed. "I didn't think you'd have the time to see me while I was in the soul society."
"A notice that you were back would have been nice," she barked. "Besides, who else is going to challenge your shunko in training?"
"An actual fight to the death," (Y/n) questioned where the woman was going with her small interrogation. It wasn't like they were close but it was evident the superior wanted to be. (Y/n) set down the bowl of ramen and jumped a bit at the sight of Shunsui at her table, holding a finger up and heading back to the kitchen.
"Really? Is that what gets you going," Soi Feng sniffed.
"No," (Y/n) sighed. She filled another bowl and walked out, pouting at Shunsui eating from her original bowl. "I just don't think the training moves anything along fast enough is all. It's nothing about what gets to me."
"Next time your here make an appointment," she demanded. Soi Feng huffed from the other side as (Y/n) chuckled lightly.
"All right. Get back to your duties Captain. I'll make it once I return," (Y/n) hung the phone up before the woman could drag on more, dropping the phone as she held Shunsui's gaze. "That was mind."
"You left it unattended," he countered with a smile. (Y/n) rolled her eyes and sat down, glancing around the apartment before starting to eat.
"I'm sorry this place is such a mess," she sighed. "I haven't cleaned since I got back."
"I didn't expect your hiding place to be clean," he chuckled.
"Why are you here," (Y/n) started eating, keeping her gaze down as she felt her nerves start acting up. It was annoying that he'd appear wherever he wanted but it was also sweet in a way. Didn't it mean he cared? (Y/n) would have to borrow one of the more romantic erotica from Lisa later and dub it as beginner's comfort.
"This is where you're comfortable. We can go out here," he nodded. The chopsticks dropped from her hand and she looked up at him, her face a deep crimson. "You'll have to say yes first, of course. But I don't think you'll say no either."
(Y/n) hit at her chest as she started to choke, coughing up the already swallowed noodles, "You'll be the death of me!"
"I regretted not taking you out before you were experimented on. I'm not missing the opportunity again," he stated bluntly. "That's not fair to my heart." (Y/n) stared at him for a moment before putting her chin in her hand.
"That's really how you feel? The eternal flirt," she asked quietly. He laughed softly and quickly finished the bowl, staring at her and then her bowl.
"You're an idiot sometimes," he sighed and grabbed her bowl, eating it as if he hadn't already finished one.
"Hey," she cried.
"We'll get more while we're out," he laughed.

(Y/n) couldn't cam down her face as Shunsui fixed the clothes on his gigai in a shop window. "I can't believe you came here for this," she muttered.
"Like I said, you're more comfortable here," he shrugged. "It seemed like the perfect place."
"You have no idea what you're doing here do you," (Y/n) stared at him as he laughed a bit nervously.
"It's been a while," he confirmed. She sighed and grabbed his hand, pulling him with her.
"Then first thing's first, we're going to a movie and then getting something to eat," (Y/n) rubbed her head at the stares she was getting. "You look like you could be my dad here, I hope you realize."
"It's not my fault you age like good sake," he snorted. "You don't look like a school girl without the uniform either, so take the stares as compliments."
"Shunsui, I don't age like sake," (Y/n) let go of his hand and crossed her arms as he hung close to her side. She wasn't in uniform but the accursed gigai of hers was still small in comparison to him in the shorts and halter top she wore, her jacket covering more of her than either clothing article combined. It made her feel like one of the delinquent teens compared to his button ups shirt and slacks.
"You're right," his arm fell over her shoulders and pulled her close. "How about a piece of art instead."
"I swear, if you don't knock it off," (Y/n) squeezed her shoulders together when he squeezed her gently.
"You're enjoying it though," he laughed softly. (Y/n) didn't say anything as she led the two into a theater, her face a bright red. "They really enjoy just watching others on screens? No real interaction?"
"It's the advancement of stage performance. There's a lot more to watch because of it and thanks to western influence there's more variety," (Y/n) nodded slowly. "If you want, we can try to find a traditional performance."
"Surprise me," he chirped. (Y/n) sighed and went through the movie listings, paying for the tickets before dragging him with her.

Shunsui chuckled as he started grabbing produce, (Y/n) watching him with an exhausted expression. He refused to eat out and instead of getting something quick resorted to buying fresh ingredients to make back at the apartment. They'd been out practically all day for him to choose what to make and it was starting to annoy her. He held up the apples with a wide grin and (Y/n) leaned over the cart, "How about pie?"
"Do you really think everything works at peek performance at my place," she questioned.
"You're fairly destructive," he nodded, mocking a thoughtful state before smiling again. "We can make something else with them then. How about meat?"
"Shunsui," (Y/n) sighed. "You've been here all day, don't you have to go back?"
"I'm off today, everything is being handled back at the division," Shunsui stretched before turning a bit. A middle aged woman was looking up at him with a bright smile.
"I was just wondering if you needed any help. I don't think your daughter really cares that much," she giggled. He stared at her before smiling broadly and moving next to (Y/n), his arm falling over her shoulder.
"Sorry ma'am but my wife just looks younger than she is," he laughed. The woman was wide eyed and as red as (Y/n) was as she bowed her head and excused herself. Shunsui whistled a bit as he watched her meet up with a group of women around her age and left, "Women are bold here."
(Y/n) covered her face and groaned, "Shunsui! We're just grocery shopping, not married!"
"I think that's a perfect cover up for the world of the living," he hummed. "So many new fantasies." (Y/n) elbowed his side as her heart raced, the man apologizing half heartedly as he continued what he was doing. It was a nice thought but it wasn't one that had crossed her mind before. The images played out in her mind, a smile forcing its way on her face against her will.
