The uniform (Y/n) had 'borrowed' from squad two was baggy and she used that as a way of making herself look like a man and had her mask on. The manor wasn't poorly guarded in the slightest but they couldn't compare to her either. Her zanpakuto was strapped across her lower back as she watched the monkey man step quietly into a room alone. He hadn't been the only one; multiple lightly armored figures having gone in the same room only a bit earlier in the evening. She could tell they were trained and were too quiet to be ordinary guards. She flashed closer, crouching on the roof close to a window.
(Y/n) pulled her zanpakuto, quietly opening the window with it and shifting onto her back with her head close to the edge. There was a strange spiritual pressure, one that felt dormant, coming from the room. She could hear their voices inside and she stared at the sky as she listened. There was a moment of silence before her body flicked her to the side. She flashed, landing in a roof a few building away from the room she had been listening into.
A man with purple hair and a scar down the center of his face stared at her, a sword buried in the roof tiles where she had been. "Who sent you," he called.
(Y/n) didn't answer, standing still as she took note of his appearance.
"Answer me," the man ordered. He was slow, trying to get in front of her only for her to flash back to where she had been before he tried to stab her. He stood in confusion for a moment before turning to look at her again. He wouldn't have been able to keep up even if he tried. (Y/n) flashed around another man, his attire similar to the purple haired ones without the distinguishing features.
He swung at air with a strangely shaped blade, a mirror covering his arm. She kicked him over the edge of the roof and flashed to outside of the manor, bolting as she tried to sense if they were following her. Kumoi was planning something and using those men as assassins. The heiress wasn't at the manor and it made her frown. Someone slammed into her and she coughed, rolling and pinning the small frame to the ground.
Soi Feng looked furious as she stared up at (Y/n), her zanpakuto in shikai form, "Thief."
"Captain, it's me," (Y/n) pulled both of the masks off her head, the woman's eyes flicking between the (e/c) orbs before relaxing. "Sorry, I needed it to do something."
"What are you doing," she hissed out as they both sat up.
"Family things," (Y/n) shrugged. Soi Feng sniffed and smacked the back of her head as they stood. There were footsteps, (Y/n) turning towards them as Soi Feng put her shikai away. She quickly put the visor mask back on as the purple haired man stopped a few feet from the two, a few more men behind him.
"Captain," he nodded to Soi Feng and glared at (Y/n) as the men behind him grabbed their swords.
"What is the meaning of this," Soi Feng snapped. She glanced at (Y/n) to openly question her.
"Captain, it was a mistake in my part," (Y/n) lowered her voice an octave, standing straight. "I got lost during the stealth training. There was a misunderstanding. Forgive me." Soi Feng blinked before sighing, her shin slamming into (Y/n)'s temple and sending her into the ground.
"Idiot," she snapped. (Y/n) was thankful she was playing along but her head reeled as she rubbed it on her knees. "Sorry for my subordinate. He'll learn."
"So that's what it is? The Court Guard Squads are slipping," the purple haired man sniffed. He waved to the others, all of them running back to the Kasumioji manor.
(Y/n) waited a moment before pulling the visor off and groaning, "Thank you."
"What were you thinking," Soi Feng pulled (Y/n) up, snorting at the slightly dazed expression on her face.
"You know," (Y/n) sighed, "A little bit of political intrigue."The tea being poured looked murky as (Y/n) sat across from Kumoi. She looked worse for wear thanks to the bruise on her temple that makeup couldn't cover. "What happened to your face, madam Yamamoto," Kumoi leaned a bit closer, reaching over and touching the side of her head. She winced and smiled sheepishly at him, moving his hand away from her face gently.
"Sorry, I hit my head while working last night. It isn't too unsightly, I hope," she hummed.
"It just pains me to see such a lovely face hurt," he chuckled. (Y/n) drank a bit of the tea, burying the urge to wrinkle her nose at the lack of sugar or honey. "We appreciate you taking time out of your busy day to come see the clan."
"It's nothing really," she nodded. "I am curious though, how is the heiress fairing today? I wanted to meet with her."
"Still ill," he nodded sadly. "We hope she gets better soon."
"Please extend our apologies," (Y/n) hummed. "We heard about a disturbance one of the soul reaper's caused last night. We'll make sure it doesn't happen again."
"Thank you but it wasn't too big of a disturbance," he nodded. (Y/n) had to give him props for his acting, the man seeming as normal as he could under the circumstances. "Would you like to walk with me, madam Yamamoto? You didn't get a very good look at the manor yesterday."
"I would like that," (Y/n) nodded. She waited for him to finish the tea, standing and following him from the gazebo. He talked of nothing important, keeping the subject on other other clans and not mentioning the Kasumioji. All (Y/n) could do was nod as he spoke, stopping at a new spiritual pressure in the manor. He stopped as well, a small, blonde girl running into him.
Rurichiyo Kasumioji was right there, looking as healthy as ever while Kumoi berated her for her behavior as other vassals appeared. He was too open about it, the others not bothering to defend their master in front of a guest though daily she was. She made a face at Kumoi when his back turned and (Y/n) covered her mouth to hide a smile.
"Ah, Lady Rurichiyo," (Y/n) gave a deep bow, extending a hand to the girl, "It's lovely to see you so well." Kumoi, who had started to walk away turned with his hands behind his back. "Lady Yamamoto (Y/n), I've come to visit your manor."
"It's lovely to meet you," the girl stared at (Y/n) and gave her hand, (Y/n) kissing her knuckles. "I hope you are being treated well?"
"Very," (Y/n) nodded. "I wished to speak with you about your family's work. I'm interested in getting my own involved in similar work."
"May we speak later? I have an urgent tea ceremony to get to," Rurichiyo smiled.
"I'm afraid I will be gone later as I do have work to do," (Y/n) sighed sadly. "I could travel with you," she gasped a bit dramatically, a hand over her chest as she faced Kumoi. "If that is all right, though."
"That is fine," Kumoi nodded. "You are but an important guest, madam Yamamoto."
