Sophie was sitting criss-cross applesauce on her ginormous canopy bed. The sun glinted through the windows, shining on her golden blond hair.

"Hey Foster!" Keefe was leaning on the doorway of Sophie's bedroom with a smirk as Sophie jumped and toppled onto the floor.

"GAH! MOMISEEAMONSTERHELPMEGRADYINEEDURBATTHENEVERSEE-" Sophie was on the floor, her mouth agape and turning crimson, spotting the blond boy across the room. "KEEFE YOU SCARED ME!"

"I can see that," he said as he came over to the and sat on the flower carpet, next to the blushing girl. They were so close that Sophie was sure she would explode if he didn't move. "Why are you here?"

" Ehh just wanted to kill some time. What were you doing? And what is that?" he said, pointing towards the phone.

"It's an app on my phone," Sophie said matter of factly. "Remember when Amy bought them with the human money Dex gave her? Then she said I was missing out on human life or whatever. So now I was just opening up instagram and-"

"I'm rambling again aren't I?" she said as she sighed.

"Yep. OooO is that you Foster?? You look hot." Sophie's cheeks felt as if they were on fire (again) as Keefe plopped onto her bed and started scrolling through her page. Then Sophie heard a familiar voice coming through the doorway.

" Hey Sophie! I thought we were having a girls night today?" Biana said as she came into the room as pretty as ever in her long teal nightgown.

" I thought that the 'girls night' was y'know supposed to be at night?" she questioned. " And Keefe just randomly came here."

"Oh ok then I can join your girls night!" Keefe exclaimed, jumping up and down on the bed.

"KEEFE GET OFF MY BED," Sophie screamed getting annoyed. " I don't need your dirty boy germs. You're leaving at 6pm and are NOT joining us."

" Fiiiineee at least I can stay for two hours ," he said rolling his eyes, and fell down onto the floor with an 'oof' as Sophie pushed him off.

" What's that Sophie," Biana said, snatching her phone from Keefe's hands.

" It's hot Foster pics," Keefe said, scooching over to where Biana was sitting.

" OooOo, " Biana snickered. " Well, I mean, you ARE pretty hot in this one." she said pointing to a picture on the screen.

"..."

"N o ," Sophie said, spelling out the letters and trying to steal the phone. But of course the three of them ended up tackling each other.

"Hey Sophie I bought some mallowmel-" Sophie turned around to see Edaline with a freshly baked batch of delicious, goey mallowmelt. Her adoptive mother's eyes moved over to Sophie's phone on the floor then bent over to pick it up.

" Soph, what's this," she said, scrolling through the app.

" Hot Foster pics," Keefe said at the same time Biana said, " Hot Sophie pics."

"You do look very pretty," Edaline said handing back the phone to Keefe. Sophie was sure she looked like a red crab right now. Nevermind that was a very bad example. "Well I'm leaving the mallowmelt right here," she said, placing the plate on Sophie's nightstand. Sophie immediately jumped over and stuffed the mallowmelt into her face.

"OH NO!" Biana exclaimed dread all over her face. " I FORGOT MY MAKEUP BAG!"

"Seriously Biana! Oh no! You better go get it right now!" Sophie said sarcastically.

" YES SOPHIE! FOR ONCE YOU HAVE COMMON SENSE." Biana exclaimed before pulling out her pathfinder and leaping to Everglen.

Right then Sophie got a text from Fitz that said, "Hey Keefe did you tell Sophie you like her yet?"

"OOoooO Keefe!" Sophie exclaimed. " Who's she? Do I know her?"

"What do you mea-" Keefe looked at the phone, then at Sophie. " Sophie- I- Are you serious-"

" What do you mean," she asked innocently looking up at him with her fawn eyes. He then started to crack up and realized that this was his chance.

" You are 'she' Sophie," Keefe said, turning towards her, holding her hands in his. " I like you ."

" Keefe I- " Sophie started. She saw Keefe's expression hopeful expression falter, " I don't- it-"

" It's ok I understand," he said with a sad smile as he took out his pathfinder.

Sophie opened her mouth to say something but before she could, the blond boy had been whisked away by the light.

She just sat there, mouth agape.

And little did he know how much she had waited to hear those words, and how much she wished she could go back in time and replaced her stutters with,

" I like you too."
